After decades of playing for crowds as a club DJ, this Lp reflects his gradual move towards the sonic realm of ambient music. He is thrilled by the contributions of the artists on this project.

Daniel Imhof is a musician and DJ based in a village close to Bern. His studio on the grounds of an organic farm is surrounded by birch trees. When he lets his gaze wander over his modular landscape, sometimes a red kite or a white crane flies into the picture. This might be one of the reasons why his music has this organic feel to it. His monthly ambient show "voyage" on the alternative radio station "Rabe" on Sunday mornings is an invitation to listen deeply, to lie down, to daydream. Occasionally he plays live for sleep concerts or other kinds of horizontal meditations.

Judith van Waterkant und Mere debütieren mit ihrer ersten eigenen EP. Dank herrlich quietschigen Acid-Schleifen und auf Hochtouren laufender Rhythmus-Maschinerie fühlt sich PoP deutlich schneller und intensiver an, als es der BPM-Wert des Titels erahnen ließe. Mila Stern schiebt für ihre Interpretation des Tracks den Schubregler ein bisschen weiter nach oben und zaubert ein lückenlos ineinandergreifendes System der groovebasierten Ekstase. Das aus dunklen Tiefen herauf brodelnde, sich zu immer neuen Filter-Modulationen aufbäumende Weiter kommt in nächtlich-vertripptem Zuschnitt daher. Im rockig-elektroiden Remix von Andy's Echo geht es auf anderem Wege in genau solche Stimmungsgefilde.
Judith van Waterkant and Mere present their first own EP. Driven by a rhythm machinery that is firing on all four cylinders and packed with screeching Acid riffs, PoP feels distinctly faster and more intense than the BPM reading of the title implies. Mila Stern pushes down on the accelerator and propels her remix into a tight system of groove- based ecstasy. The nocturnal track Weiter is dark and deep, looms up through a series of bold filter modulations, creating a heady, tripped-out atmosphere. So does the remix from Andy's Echo, even though this rocky, electroid take on the original moves on a different path to reach that point
of a party.

Astral Records opens the month of September by welcoming Lumme and Miguel Lautaro to the label for their debut EP. Based in Switzerland, both Lumme and Miguel have achieved measurable success in their respective careers. Armed with a fresh production approach and distinctly cosmic sound, the duo's combined discography is highlighted by releases via Awen Records, Somatic Records and Univack. Now in the fourth year of their creative partnership, Lumme and Miguel continue on an upwards trajectory, making their Astral Records debut with a two-track showcase entitled 'Rude Intention'. The title selection finds Lumme and Miguel calling upon the vocal talents of Kill Coco; who collectively craft an electric slice of melodic techno. Sitting on a modern astral perch, it's a marriage of tight manicured beats, swing heavy rhythms, and finely tuned percussion which set the course for Kill's ethereal vocal phrasing and razor-sharp synths to work their magic. Anthemic and energetic in equal measure, the duo lets the listener relish in the groove, as it tastefully cruises across the first movement, before a tense, arp-driven break reaches an exhilarating crescendo, perfectly cuing a drop of devilish synth swagger. Continuing to push an astral narrative, it is 'Last Call' which rounds out the release in fine style. Here, the duo's meticulous design and darker monochromes conjure up dystopian visions, as buzzing motifs and pyrotechnic effects layer a bed of punishing beats and striking percussion. A series of percolating synths highlights the main break, bringing with it a hefty dose of electricity, further revealing the duo's creative attitude, before a finale of striking sonics breaks into a rich textural rain of melodic colour.

Eingeschiffte Parasiten, der Einsatz von Pestiziden und Monokulturen in der Landwirtschaft begünstigen diesen Prozess, der nicht nur zum Aussterben der Bienen führen, sondern letztlich auch unser Ende bedeuten könnte. Ohne Bienen wäre ein funktionierendes Ökosystem undenkbar.

The 44th Chapter in this story sees the release of JOBE's My Regrets, featuring the haunting vocals of Haptic and a big Edition from label bosses VVerses.

As ever with JOBE, the EP is a powerful combination of darkness, melody and heft.

Title track My Regrets is true to form, built on a chunky, driving groove that opens into an expansive and euphoric vocal-led peak in which Haptic takes the lead, giving a performance that is typically haunting and emotional. The Dub Edition, meanwhile, offers a useful counterpoint that smooths out the highs of the original.

Up next, the VVerses Lessons Learned Edition is a blissful combination of new wave-influenced broken beat, delayed basslines and dripping acid. Haptic's vocal, transformed into an impersonal and heavily vocodered robotic presence, holds the track together as it culminates into choppy ravey chords that channel a Balearic feel.

Final track Luma is an ominous afro tech roller, big dusty drums encasing a central arp that ups the ante and is bound to make the dancefloor bounce. Interweaving synths relentlessly build the tension to a crescendo.

JOBE does it again with his My Regrets EP, right in time for the summer months. Here are stories in sound not to be missed on Chapter 24.
