FS-X33 - Bee Land (Typecell Remix) [Subplate Recordings] PREMIERE

Bats have a bad reputation - branded as blood-sucking vampires for centuries, and more recently shunned for potentially harbouring and spreading COVID. But these deeply misunderstood and undervalued creatures of the night are essential to keeping balance in our planet’s ecosystems. They pollinate plants, disperse seeds, and help humans out by eating literal tons of insect pests every year. They're the only mammals that can properly fly, and if you’ve ever laid eyes on one you’ll see they’re actually pretty cute. Bats are very vulnerable to environmental threats like habitat loss, light pollution and disease. Every contribution helps protect them, no matter how small. Victim from New Zealand returns to T3K Recordings with a full EP after quite a while. But he landed on Vision Recordings, Citrus Recordings and PrgRAM in the meantime and also managed to level up his producing game again. J-Path returns to CONFUCIAN with his latest release on the label.
Over the past three years, J-Path has continued to refine his raw and rhythmic brand of minimal drum and bass. As evidenced by his most recent offering, his musical approach is a perfect match for CONFUCIAN, the Seoul-based label at the forefront of the burgeoning drum and bass scene in South Korea.

Break The Spiral opens the release in dramatic fashion. Ethereal soundscapes and emotive trance-like arpeggios set the tone as the top percussive layer is slowly filtered in above a heavily syncopated kick rhythm, building anticipation over the course of the introduction. A metallic break sample switches into a pulsating drop loaded with techy bass stabs and sharp drums which gradually evolves as
percussive elements and warped basses are introduced and stripped away throughout the track.

In contrast, What Does It Take adopts a pensive and soulful mood whilst still retaining the forceful minimal energy of the prior track. A dreamlike sequence of musical elements immediately captures the listener’s attention as meticulously layered contrapuntal arpeggios and melodies weave in and out above Bukem-esque 808s and serene vocal pads. The reverb-drenched soundscape lingers after
a seamless transition into the drop, where a liquid reese bass accompanies crips percussion as various melodic bass stabs and wobbles enrich the sonic texture at various points.
With these two tracks, J-Path presents two heavyweight tunes full of minimal favours and flies the flag high for South Korean drum and bass.

Brazilian producer Dizrupt may be a new name to some but has been making waves in the dnb scene for several years now. In this short time has seen support from Noisia, Bryan G, Dj Andy and countless other big names with his self-released music and releases on Odio Records and Fraktal Sound.

The title track from this EP was featured on Noisia’s Vision radio in early 2021, and forms the basis of this varied and impressive debut release for Dispatch. It was written on his Epiphone SG, using analogue effects and distortion to make the guitar sound like a synthesiser. A unique, experimental track with bags of atmosphere and progressive depth.

Fusing organic sounds and field recordings with synthesised sounds throughout the EP, Dizrupt delivers an incredible mix of rolling energy with technical and experimental production techniques.

Dizrupt - Tropical Storm - DIS184 (OUT NOW)

We can’t talk about conservation without looking at the past casualties of human actions, like the now-extinct Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine. With a dog-like appearance and striking tiger stripes, thylacines were the largest carnivores in the marsupial family and actually not related to tigers or wolves at all. They had huge teeth-filled mouths and powerful jaws that could stretch open 120 degrees, and were widely feared by European arrivals to Tasmania in the 1800s. The settlers brought sheep and cattle and believed thylacines attacked them (despite a lack of evidence). In reality thylacines were shy and mostly hunted small prey like birds and rodents. Bounties were offered for dead thylacines and thousands were killed. Finally in 1936, 59 days after the thylacine was officially declared a ‘protected species’, the last thylacine died in a zoo after being accidentally locked out in freezing temperatures overnight. No other living thylacines were ever found. It’s truly tragic that these unique animals were wiped out. We need to take action now to help save other species from extinctionand therefor all proceeds from this release will be donated to World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Brain from Colombia is one of the most important artists of his country. Not only his releases on Dispatch Recordings or Sofa Sound and so many others show what he is capable of but he is always keeping himself busy with doing samplepacks, throwing events and supporting other artists productions. You can spot his productions from miles away and we feel blessed to have a such a good EP from him in stock. The perfect artwork for this release comes from Mimbelbi.

AI can be a useful tool to leverage many things in life, but once technology starts to leverage itself, by itself, is when I believe we ought to become hypervigilant.
I personally feel we are well beyond that point.
Will AI be used for good or will AI use humans for evil? 
At this point, with little to no regulation, only time will tell...
