hey guys!  i wanted to get a new mixtape up for ya'll super bad.  

ive not even listened through but it took so much time to even get something together thats finished enough to share it.  

just to make this happen heres what the rest of my life looking like over here:   i dont got shit to eat, nothing in the fridge, whatever is left takes too long to prepare so deffo no time for that biz.  my house is piled with dirty dishes, even if i wanted to cook or eat like a civilized person every item in the kitchen for doing any of that is dirty.  dont even try.  but no worries about the ants, i trapped on those fools.  about showering.  probably have not done enough of that.  i lose track.

same old shit. just like how it used to be. i lost music for over a year and it was proper dark.  i missed it so much.  the music and the absolute madness that comes with it.

feat @marshall-applewhite - on the live mic shout out!  lol. when i dropped one of his gazillions brilliant songs that guy - "mouth work" (all time fav).  totally fucking forgot until i heard it on the recording. huge smile**

btw input on recording must been clipping super HOT - sorry for the damaged audio, esp in the low end, muddy.  tried to clean it up.  some bits survived the garbage disposal.  im just stoked to release this set & grateful to @paxahau for recording every set

well here it is - the live recorded set from the best day thusfar of my ridiculous little life - closing the @beatport stage on monday night this year at movement festival.

the original recording i was handed was extremely muddy and very poor quality.  i'm not sure if some raver accidentally dropped the recorder in the river or what?!?! lol... at first listen i thought the mix was totally unsalvageable. but there was so much persistent response from you guys asking about the recording that i had to try and make it happen.  (you guys are the best btw)

i spent countless hours EQing, limiting, EQing, and working all sorts of magic, and MORE EQing to get it sounding the way it does now.  i didn't mess with the flow of the set or anything shady like that - it is exactly how it came out that night.  

its not a flawless mix.  so what.  its live.  im only half robot, half human. it had been a VERY long weekend with a minimal amount of disco naps and only a few hours notice that i was going to fill in for mister boys noize..... excuses excuses :)  whatever. i'm happy.

THANK YOU guys SOOOOO much for all the love. i still feel like the luckiest person alive to have had the opportunity to play this set.  Thanks to my agents and manager and @chuck_flask and @paxahau and my @dirtybirdrecords family and all my friends and techno family from all over the place who were there in the crowd (i saw all your faces) and the people of detroit who have been so fucking nice and supportive....and my friends who were there in spirit.  and all the producers who actually wrote all these tracks. yes especially you. for creating frequencies meant to surround your body, be heard AND felt, and most of all rumble you to the core..... and thanks and praise to the techno gods for making this shit happen.  

so hey ok i got a little bit (super duper) emo on ya.  deal with it. 

i hope the set is how you remember it from that night.  and if its not... well fuck you... i cannot be held responsible for any chemically altered mind-states ;)  i'm just here to promote the music... jesus loves acid.  x -jess

sup fam i luv u fam. all u humans from all corners & all walks of life that like this weird music too. u. i luv u so.

i heard this recording & for me, personally, it sounded like it might be one of my best recordings of a live set. i mean that humbly. u should hear some of my crap set recordings lol.  And since I recently had to say goodbye to Mezzanine, and 12 years of djing there alongside the same 4 (became 5) of my best dj pals.... this mix will always pull at that part of me thats all sentimental & cant let go of the past.  

thanks to mike lee the production manager/sound engineer at mezzanine for recording this one for me - and for always always improving the sound when it was already great - and i swear that funktion 1 was always sounding better and better every party over the years because of you.  almost no clubs do that.  i miss it!

some special vinyl rips on here & even tho vinyl gives me so much joy with its hidden secrets in the etchings or in the artworks, or how it arrives in packaging that is also work of art - like the record that got sent with 103 stamps!!?   but it also adds to my insanity. b/c my process for it is, well, insane.
