The Assignment: Remix the pure sounds of Chris Kallmyer’s traveling wind chimes to your own musical purposes.

-Used the first 3 minutes of the original, unedited
-Converted that audio to midi and triggered a crystal chamber bowls sampler.
-Added 3 wind chimes I own (build by my father in the 80's out of aluminium tubes)
-Improvised an acoustic piano part
-Improvised a synth pad


Paris, Friday 16th April 2021 in the morning;


First, some background: Kallmyer’s “Two hearts are better than one” is a pair of wind chimes, one of which is depicted in this week’s cover image, crisscrossing Los Angeles at the height of the pandemic. Installed at homes for week-long listening sessions, the chimes formed a duet across a city and provided intimate experiences with sound for 16 families sheltering at home. It’s not the first time we experiment with haiku and AI, but it’s always fun. ChalkWalk, a member of Naviar’s community and regular contributor to the Haiku challenge, created some haiku with the support of GPT-3, an autoregressive language model that uses deep learning to produce human-like text. This language prediction model was developed by OpenAI, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence research laboratory.

Snow Walk (disquiet0474) with Analoc and halF unusuaL

The new album ‘Object Models’ has taken a broad, yet calculated approach to both the sound and composition of its elements. While retaining much of the pop-music track length credo of ‘Let’s be Happy', the spacing between parts has become less structured, focusing more on the breathability of track in full. Never fully silent, there is now just as much focus on the quiet parts as the loud.

While a few of these pieces are about prior and current neurological
experiences, the overall focus of ‘Object Models’ is pinpointed on
personality changes due to neurological damage. Socially, having to appear the same while old versions of the original are worn-out photocopies; a card-catalogue. The dusty Rolodex®. Which 'face' to choose in which social situation, and the occasional errors; a misplaced index card.
