It started simply enough. I was just looking to put down some quick beats and a bass line to improvise over. It turns out the two-part formula (first Dm and G, then Dm and C) is incredibly easy to riff over. And I couldn't stop. I kept adding more and more parts. The result is a completely gratuitous, self-indulgent, vintage synth overload. Of course the first solo is a Jupiter-8, followed by JX-8P, along with some heavy lifting from Junos 60 and 106, and a manic SH-101 riff, not to mention the driving arpeggiations (and quick solo) from a Prophet 6. The track is seven minutes long, but you can believe that the "jam sessions" leading up to recording went for days at a time.

Elixir

I have used this track many times as background music for various video or podcast projects that I have done. Usually those adventures involve me wandering off and/or exploring some area previously unknown to me. The simplicity of the sound -- a Juno 106 doing nearly all the work -- has always appealed to me.

Good track for meditation, zoning out... finding zen. I updated the original recording, with a little remixing, remastering.

Filling Space

Originally released as my first single on 14th November 2023, Collagen Peptides is the introduction to the album. I was originally inspired by the band Duster when I decided to start making my own music, my plan was to make more low fidelity, chill songs with none or subtle vocals as singing and writing lyrics was always the hardest part of making songs for me.

The name of the song just comes from the supplement Collagen and how one of the main reason people who decide to take it is because they are not happy with the way they look. Better skin, hair, antiaging, build muscle ect.

This is the only song on the album that had live drums recorded by myself. My drum kit was set up in my garage and was recorded with two overhead microphones and a bass drum mic. However only having a two input audio interface at the time i had to either record the bass drum seperatly or add them in later manually. This was always a pain and so I found ways to avoid doing this on later songs.

My Les Paul was used for the rhythm guitars with the shimmer setting on my reverb pedal as well as the OCD later in the song to give the shimmer a bigger sound towards the end. My stratocaster was used for the lead and features my favourite solo i've ever wrote which goes across the whole song.

The bass guitar in the original recording was slightly out of tune and had to be rerecorded for the album. Which wasn't fun.

Although instrumental if you listen closely at 1:18 and 1:27 you can here two vocal tracks where I hum the lead guitar line 'da da du du'.

Collagen Peptides

This is an updated remix/remaster of Spiked Vanilla. Lyrically, the song is basically about people who try too hard to be "cool".

Vanilla Scoop

This is an updated, remixed version of Pariah. When I went back into the original files, I saw that I initially planned to title the song Outsider. So that was the choice this time around. It's a heavy sound, definitely influenced by all the years of listening to prog rock.

Outsider

A track from my album 'Goal! Mundial 1958-1994', a concept album about the World Cup. The album contains eight tracks, each representing a key match from almost forty years of World Cup history. This particular track concerns the 1994 match between Romania and Columbia, and 'The Ace' of the title refers to the star of that match, Gheorghe Hagi.

The album tracks range from progressive rock, jazz, and classically inspired themes, to Italo Disco, electronica, and production techniques inspired by the big pop records of the 1980s. Check the album out here:
