Can you please tell us something about yourself ?

I'm 48 and currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S., I was born on the West Coast, but was raised on the East. Although North Carolina is home now, I'm a product of Florida. Being a teenager in the 90's living in Florida was definitely a formative time for me as it was for many others.  In '94, I was introduced to my first club experience.  It was called Euphoria and it was in a pretty sordid part of downtown Jacksonville.i was immediately sold.  I fell in love with all of it; the grittiness, the different (counter) culture, a sense of belonging and community, the often manic "lifestyle" that came with it, but most importantly, the SOUND! I was already familiar with, and a fan of Miami Bass, but the Florida Breakbeat "sound" was brand new and in it's infancy. Instantly, I was a fan! A few months later, I bought 2 Technic 1200's, a Radio Shack Realistic mixer and taught myself how to count measures and mix. I did and still do it for the craft. 

Tell us something about your Music (any upcoming projects/releases/event) :

Although I've been spinning for 30 years, I've only been on the production end of it this past year. I use Reason as my DAW because of its sound design capabilities. I've been working on this one project for about 6 months, mainly because I'm new and I'm still trying to figure out my workflow.  I've started about 13 other ones. Apparently, that's a common thing. I've been getting into Hardware recently so right now I'm working with a Roland tr6s, Arturia Microbrute and a 1st Gen Novation K- Station. 

Can you share with us the genre.s/artist.s/label.s/place.s or event.s which may has influenced and/or that may played a role in your music practice today ?

At 18, I didn't have the money for imports, just domestics. The times that I did have extra money and could buy a couple imports, I would make sure it was a Hooj Choons or Elektrolux release. Although I was a huge fan of the Florida sound at that time, it became saturatedage rinsed with the same broken beat sound. I discovered Hoodwink Records and became a huge fan. A bit like Armen Crew, there is a very big roster with very diverse talent.  The label ventured out and stepped away from status quo.  The records  being pressed and put out  were next level, and the waveforms on the vinyl, even more so. I took almost a 20-year hiatus from the scene during that time. Life got pretty dark for me for quite a few years. I think that's a lot of reason now that darker Electro is my thing. It's hard to describe, but there's something soothing about tritones,  distortion and the chord of Fmin. I'm a huge fave of dark/ ambient stuff. 

Which genre.s/artist.s/label.s/event.s are more relevant to you nowadays ?

Some of my favorite labels now are Mechatronica, Microm, Gestalt, Cosmic Tribe,  Slap-It, Tri, Curtis Electronix, Tripalium, Bass Agenda, .... There's so many I love. 

Tell us an album that you would recommend listening to :

It's not an album, but a 170 track V/A called Carebot$ II. I highly recommend it and all proceeds are going to feed the people of war-torn Gaza.

Is there anything that inspires you to create, listen or play music ?

Yes. This is a prime example. I'm not big on self promotion, so when someone hears a mix they enjoyed of mine and asks me to do more, it's extremely humbling and that's all the motivation I need. Thank you guys for allowing me to be a part of this.

For 7 years, Peach: Drag and Dirty Disco has been serving the queer community and drag performers of Hanoi, bringing you Hanoi’s most dangerous drag show each month. This month to celebrate Snug’s 9 Year Anniversary we will bringing you an extra special show with a particularly special After Hours with Skatebård!

For this month’s edition, Peach plays host to an extra special performance. For the third time, a themed and conceptualized Peach show will be landing at Savage on November 14th. The Queer Cabaret is in town, for one night only!

The show will start at 10:30pm and finish at midnight. Expect kinks, sex, intrigue, thrills and spills. Don’t be late or you might miss out!

And a very special appearance of the one, the only air maestro from Bergen, @skatebard for hour after hours post show till 2am.
