A living legend is added to our REC series. Relive the memorable set of Steve Rachmad, the man with numerous aliases, including Sterac, recorded in our Room 01. As you would expect from the Dutch DJ and producer, his performance reflects more than two decades of clubbing and perfecting a sound that is often attributed to his adopted home of Detroit. ﻿

Two hours set of a languid ascension, filled with unsettling yet reassuring tracks all the way through. Add varied influences, some heavy groove, a big pinch of skill, and you get his trademark. There is no doubt why the artist has been performing for so many years, and this recording is further irrefutable evidence.

Celebrating her sisters in dance music globally, this mixtape is for all seasons, not just to be gassed up during International Women’s Day, or the month of March.  The playlist of mostly 12-inch records, with the odd digital cut layered in, are reflective of the sort of tracks you’d hear Marcia Carr play all over the place: from FLOW festival in Helsinki, the Berghain Panorama Bar (Berlin), or at La Mona in Paris. Even at specialist openings for pioneers such as Louie Vega, Annie Lennox, and Norman Jay MBE, Jill Scott, the late Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, or alongside DJ Spinna, Gerd Jansen, Eliza Rose, and Gilles Peterson.

Which lead to the following: 
Soundcollector on Radio 100/De Vrije Keizer @ Amsterdam/The Netherlands, in the early eighties

Beat- and loopproducing (mostly OS Hip-Hop) on Teac Reeltapedecks in the early eighties: cut&paste with actual knife & sticky tape :)

Reviewer for Slam Magazine(records) & Go Magazine(records & events) in the late nineties.

Deejay-ing on vinyls since the mid nineties, also on Traktor since 2008. Tnx 2 S ‘n Res ;-)
