Headzone Records is an independent record label focused on music we love and totally believe in, specializing Vinyl and CDs worldwide and in Los Angeles CA.


Massimo Vivona was born in Sicily Italy. He was young and impressionable during the explosion of electronic influence in music and was absolutely captivated by the 'other worldly' sounds that were able to be achieved through experimentation of electronic instrumentation. Groups such as Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Rockets and Mike Oldfield were all a huge inspiration for Massimo to go deeper into his passion for music production. Also influenced by funk, Massimo cites tremendous inspiration was sparked by artists such as Johnny Guitar Watson and James Brown.
Massimo began Dj'ing at age 11 at events in Sicily and these events kept growing larger. Upon coming of age, Massimo moved to Germany to pursue music production further. When his first production "De Largo' was complete, he gave it to Pete Namlook of FAX RECORDS label in Frankfurt. Torsten Fenslau, the manager of club DORIAN GRAY in Frankfurt got a hold of the single and it was soon after placed at #1 on the club charts in Germany. This began Massimo's international DJ career.
Massimo has over 65 releases, including 6 albums and has been featured on over 85 successful electronic dance compilations worldwide. His repertoire includes works published by Sony Music, BMG Ariola and has collaborated with Warner Chappell Music and Universal Music for licensing.

Massimo Vivona founded Headzone Records in 1995 along with Andy Howard founder of Intergroove Distribution UK. Their focus was the worldwide distribution of vinyl and CD's of some of the most cutting edge electronic music artists. Massimo continues to have a deep appreciation for vinyl and to this day prefers playing his sets on vinyl. "Digital sounds sort of synthetic compared to vinyl, it does not have the sound quality that vinyl does; Vinyl has a much more warm sound and is the grandfather of digital music and should be respected." Headzone Records is currently operating out of the U.S with the same mission of the distribution of exceptional electronic music on vinyl worldwide.

It's not just in the notes he plays or the rhymes he pens—it’s in his blood, his bones, and the way he breathes life into every beat.
Born John Patrick, and known to friends and family as Peezy, his moniker JPZ came naturally, stitched together by a neighborhood nickname and a nod to Wu-Tang legend RZA. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, before making the Bay Area his second home, JPZ’s story isn't just one of geographical shifts—it's a living testament to the soul-shaping impact of music, family, and an unwavering belief in self-made freedom.
Growing up in a two-parent household until his teenage years, JPZ's early world was one of structure, support, and musical discovery. With two sisters, Kirsten and Courtney, by his side, he first felt the gravitational pull of music inside a neighborhood bar called Corner Cocktails. As a kid, he'd hustle up quarters from his dad to play the jukebox, intuitively learning how the right song could flip the mood of an entire bar full of people. That small but powerful moment planted a seed that would grow into a life-long devotion.
By second grade, JPZ was already knee-deep in saxophone and guitar lessons, laying the musical foundation for what would become a signature sound he now calls "Kansas City Mob Soul." A jazzy, soulful interpretation of the classic West Coast Mob sound, his music doesn’t just knock—it breathes, hustles, and teaches. His tracks are dark, aggressive when they need to be, but always infused with a heavy dose of game, manifestation, and financial freedom talk.
His influences run deep and diverse: Mac Miller’s free spirit, Berner’s hustler intuition, and DJ Mustard’s ability to soundtrack a generation are all woven into JPZ's sonic DNA. Yet, he doesn’t just emulate—he elevates.

He charted alongside West Coast heavyweights like E-40 and B-Legit with their collaborative project "Connected and Respected."


He appeared again on the Billboard charts through another placement with E-40, further cementing his arrival as a serious player in the game.

"J6s" and "RDV" featuring none other than Tech N9ne—the Kansas City titan JPZ grew up mere minutes away from but didn't meet until later in life.


"Back from Aspen" alongside Richie Rich, Larry June, and Curren$y—a laid-back celebration of hustle and elevation.


"We Different" with Richie Rich, E-40, and V-White, a testament to unique paths and unshakable authenticity.

 A children’s book, “Charlie Parker Played Be Bop,” sparked his obsession with the city’s legendary jazz heritage, inspiring him to pick up the sax and start his journey. That love for Kansas City’s sound can still be heard today—an undercurrent of improvisation and soulful rebellion running through every record.
Relocating to the Bay Area didn’t dilute his roots; it sharpened his pen and expanded his grind. In the Bay, JPZ found new levels to the independent hustle, soaking up game from the kings of getting it out the mud and flipping it into gold.
