When Marius asked me, if want to remix a track from his album, I listened through all the tracks and ended up with "Auf Unser Versagen (mit Vicky)".  When I was listening to the track I directly had the idea of taking the sax melody out of the context of a classic electronic and melancholic deep house track into a jazzier, more organic and sample based setting. I liked the idea of having the exactly same main theme, but through the change of harmonies and sound aesthetics, a completley different atmosphere.

Aroop Roy has been making waves with his unique sounds for the past few years, with a wealth of successful releases and a busy gig schedule at the helm of some of the best clubs around the world. By fusing elements of Jazz, Afro, Latin, Funk and Soul with the deeper end of House and
Disco, Aroop has forged his own style with EPs on revered labels including G.A.M.M, Basic Fingers, Freestyle and Lazy Days. For his Delusions Of Grandeur debut he pulled out all the stops, delivering three original tracks which further show his diversity as an artist and ability to produce left of centre, quality underground music without losing sight of the dancefloor.
Things kick off with Save Our Love, a track that’s absolutely brimming with energy thanks to punchy Wurlitzer chops, tension-building Philly strings, and a rock-solid disco groove.
Next up we have What I love which sees Aroop take an altogether more freaky approach flipping an uptempo rolling break, distorted synth line, cross-rhythm stabs and rasping vocal cuts into an edgy dance floor workout.
Closing this brilliant EP is the low-slung bump of Walk That Walk featuring original vocals from Oakland, CA based Blacktroniks who delivers his flow on top of a bass-heavy slice of deep electro boogie.

Therapy (feat. Alex Mills)

Throughout 2019, Madtech has released a run of self-titled compilations alongside notable EP releases from DJOKO and Stephan Bazbaz as the label showcased a host of talents from within the minimal house sphere, including Alex Ranerro, Juliche Hernandez, Ray Mono, Aron Volta and many more. For this year’s final V/A, the London-based imprint does what it does best by bringing a slew of emerging artists to the forte, with this latest release featuring Australian artist Somersault, Rinse FM show host and DJ Jack Swift, Monocord and Ladeep producer Fyrone, with Basel-based Mikhu finalising the roster.
Somersault’s ‘Fauner’ opens with slick drum programming, teasing rhythms, fleeting synths and reverbed vocals while Swift’s cut ‘The Groove’ elevates the energy with solid kicks, atmospheric pads, a tight bassline and a hair-raising break. Next, Fyrone serves up a break influenced cut entitled ‘Disk’ with smooth sub frequencies, panned cymbals, layered claps and fluttering stabs before Mikhu closes the release with shuffling hi-hats, bubbling low-end, glossy keys and shiny one-shots on ‘Deste’.
