Program note:
Homāio stands for a legendary mythical bird from the Iranian legends and Sufi fables. It is said that it never lands and spends its entire life in flight. It flies invisibly high above the earth, impossible to detect with human eyes. If its shadow falls upon you, you will be blessed with good fortune. Moreover, the Persian modal scale homāyoun, used in traditional Iranian music, shares the same core as the word homāio - meaning happiness, joy or promise. Soaring with wings spread wide, the musical construct of the world of light and shadow is brought to life. The promise of happiness becomes the great unknown.

Bakblivv is a musical alias of Ernest Borowski, a queer intermedia artist, producer, and DJ from Poland.
His latest album, "Piece of Stone," is a stunning embodiment of the possibilities of contemporary post-club music. Through mesmerizing glimpses of multilayered soundscapes, the album invites listeners on a sonic journey that imagines a world yet to come. Each track on the album is a vivid imagination of ecosystems of (im)possible agencies. Born from a place of utopian dream of being-together, the album serves as a non-linear narrative.

The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3
