This EP is the result of a long-standing creative exchange between ArpXP and Was A Be – a process that unfolded over the years in a spontaneous, unstructured way, capturing the spirit of the moment rather than following a rigid plan.

These tracks are not the pair’s first collaborations; the two artists have been close friends for many years. Each piece was born in different circumstances and under different inspirations, but they evolved gradually, reshaped and fine-tuned through countless tests on the dancefloor.

ArpXP is among the first Italian DJs and producers to break into the international drum & bass circuit. Since the early 2000s, first with his project S.M.O.K.E. and later as a solo artist, he has released on iconic imprints such as Metalheadz and many more. He is also one of the driving forces behind the renowned SUNANDBASS Festival, where he curates the label SUNANDBASS Recordings.

Was A Be, meanwhile, has established himself as one of the most influential figures in the Italian scene. Known for his eclectic and boundary-pushing style, he has released music on some of the most respected labels in the game, including Subtitles, Critical, Shogun, Gutterfunk and Neosignal.

This was the first time I entered the studio to work on an official remix for a proper label! Man I was so pumped! I had little if any studio experience and was wide eyed and full of questions. I can’t tell you how much I learnt watching Sameer (Pocket) work. Many of the things he employed during our sessions together have stayed with me to this day. I probably annoyed him with my million and one questions (ha ha) but thanks for the amazing kick start Sameer! It was a good combination actually, both Sameer and Ken had their eye on the production side of things while my mind kept coming back to the dancefloor and how the crowd would react to the track at the gigs I played. But it wasn’t just me who played this track, DJ’s like Fat Boy Slim also dropped it and people would often text me from London saying such and such DJ ‘just dropped your remix of La La Land at Fabric’! It totally made my young producers day! I rinsed this remix, and have immense pride hearing it all over again, 14 years later! Enjoy!
