Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfill those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during March 2018.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the time of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

If you enjoyed listening to something here, please give it a like and a repost. Follow the artist. Give them a shoutout on social media. Check out some of their other tracks. This track was inspired by an Italio Disco track made by Synthmania on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz_iB_W9w5s&index=7&list=PLSxCN8QxbOooUNqZa9rUvQCcnqZvsobY3) (very vaguely) 

This track was made in Mixcraft 7 Pro Studio using only the Memorymoon VSTi for the synth lines. It contains a driving octave bass and drum with many synth solos over the top. Comment which is your favourite!

Well now that day has come. What if he was serious? Maybe we really are supposed to meet...... Well, there's only one way to find out, right?

Bill's Note: True to form Melissa nailed this vocal performance in two takes! The high "classical" sounding parts were mic'd overhead. That type of vocal performance causes a lot of interference with a close mic'd setup due to the volume, mass of air and sound that is moved.
In this recording I tried to emphasize also Will's cymbal work which to me adds to the magical nature of this piece. 
The first seven notes are given to us by Serj Tankian and his "7 Note Challenge". That motif then returns to represent the passage of time. The chord progression is loosely based upon Irving Berlin's "What'll I Do" which really seems fitting considering the subject matter.
The place is "The Point" - a park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where the Allegheny and the Monongahela meet to form the grand Ohio River ...it is a place that I believe is magical and so I created this story.

Silent Treatment

This is quite a different kind of outing for me. I've always admired the Soundcloud guitar players who play blues to pre-recorded backing tracks and burn them up. Many years ago, I played the blues myself, or tried to. So, around four years ago I thought I'd give the backing track blues thing a try. I decided at the time that the results weren't good enough to post. In fact, I'd forgotten that I'd even done it when I found this on my hard drive. I enjoyed hearing it, and inspired by Bill Boethius' recent original mega-exploded-blues postings (check them out!), I thought I'd share it.

I got the backing track free online, but can't now recall from where.

i had an idea of what i wanted to do - i was gonna do some harsh noise interspersed with gongs. the idea being that the music is not imbued with peace but rather that peace is a byproduct of being present where you are.

of course, there's still the intent of making meditation music : indirectly influenced by the new agey nicey nicey bollox i was trying to avoid.

fortunately i  forgot about all this. i went to the buddhist centre for a meditate and then had to rush to some work. later i was making some music (classical instrumetns in iris 2) feeling peaceful and present but also with an undercurrent of unaccepted stress and anxiety.  an important insight from meditation is how complex my inner emotional landscape can be. 

once i realized this was appropriate for the junto, i stretched the track to 7 minutes and recorded my meditation bowl (there happened to be a penny in there which made a nice buzz)

i can hear my sense of peace in the track but also the dissonance and distortion

Track shows a very delicate theme and a quite hard-riffed part, both alternating and finally flowing up to an endless symphonic dream (words are half a poem I wrote previously (not these, but lyrics below)).
