A respected member of the global techno elite, the FORMAT boss is kicking off 2015 in style, with the release of his 'Buffer' 12" via Drumcode on March 9th. Following that, Juan will be returning to FORMAT under his JSSL moniker, for the Constant Target EP, which includes a remix from Madrid's Kwartz.

Juan's mix takes us on a trip through the dark tunnels of the techno underground, building through peak time destroyers and returning us safely to minimal depths.

Hereby we would like to share some words about the mix by the man himself:

‘After taking a short break from DJ’ing to welcome the birth of my son, I was more than ready to return to the decks and record this podcast. I truly missed playing and am honored to present this milestone episode.

Ostgut Ton aficionado Anthony Parasole has helped keeping New York techno in the headlines over the last decade. The long time Halcyon store worker is not only a co-partner in Deconstruct Music with Levon Vincent, but he also runs his own no holds barred label, The Corner.  There is a very real sense of grit and streetwise attitude in everything he does, from the music he makes to the sets he lays down, and that raw energy never fails to consume all those who experience it. 

The podcast he serves up here is a near three hour live recording of him playing a warm up set on home turf at Output, New York.  As such it finds him really stretching his legs, starting out dark and atmospheric before journeying into more airy ambience, melodic slo jams and spaced out techno. Keeping a vibe alive for extended periods of time is no mean feat, but is something that Parasole truly excels as evidence here when he invites you deep down into his very personal rabbit hole.

Ruigoord (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrœyxoːrt]) is a village in the Houtrakpolder in the Dutch province of North Holland, situated within the municipality of Amsterdam. Until the 1880s, it was an island in the IJ bay, which turned into a polder. The village is nowadays partially closed in by the Port of Amsterdam, and lies about 8 km east of Haarlem.[1]

In the 1960s the village was evacuated by the municipality of Amsterdam, which intended to extend its harbour, but the plans fell through. In 1972 the village was squatted by a group of artists who planned to make a colony there.[2][3] As such it exists to this day, but it is now legalized. Full moon parties are regularly organised in the formerly Roman Catholic village church and every year there is the Landjuweel (Land Jewel) festival in August.[4]

Since the early 2000s, the village has staged an annual poetry festival over the Whitsun weekend, Vurige tongen (Fiery Tongues). One of the festival's three days is always devoted to international poets. From 2003 on, a yearly Ruigoord Trophy has been awarded to individuals who have selflessly dedicated themselves to maintaining the village as an important cultural stronghold. The first such trophy was presented to Simon Vinkenoog. Three notable non-Dutch trophy holders are the late American poet and photographer Ira Cohen, the Canada-born writer Jordan Zinovich, and the Amsterdam-based American poet and writer Eddie Woods. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruigoord
