"What portrayal? The portrayal of Divine Mercy. Jesus instructed St. Faustina to commission a portrayal that mirrored His appearance during His revelation to her. She complied and engaged a Polish painter, Eugene Kazimirowski, to execute the task. It necessitated over a dozen attempts before Faustina deemed it adequate.

He is depicted as advancing towards us, with two streams of light emanating from His Heart: a crimson stream and a pallid stream, symbolizing the blood and water that surged from His lacerated side upon the Cross. Overview
A 2006 depiction of the sacred image positioned above the sanctuary’s altar in the abode of the Fathers of Mercy.
During the 2016 World Youth Day, Pope Francis officiated the Eucharistic celebration before the portrayal of the Divine Mercy. Sister Faustina, a Polish religious sister, became a member of the Warsaw-based congregation of the Sisters of Mercy in 1925. Her journal, subsequently released as “Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul,” details her numerous mystical encounters and dialogues with Christ. Her spiritual advisor was Father Michael Sopocko, a theologian and clergyman.

In 1930, Sister Faustina was transferred to the religious community in Płock, Poland. She recounted that on the evening of Sunday, February 22, 1931, she witnessed an apparition of Christ as the “Monarch of Divine Mercy,” adorned in a white robe.
She described Christ’s right hand lifted in benediction, the other hand gesturing towards his heart, from where two significant beams, one crimson and the other pale, appeared to originate just below his heart.

The sisters at the monastery provided Hyła with descriptions from Sister Faustina’s spiritual diary and a miniature replica of the initial artwork. Hyła’s rendition diverges from Kazimirowski’s, portraying Christ as the “Heavenly Healer” traversing the globe to bestow healing. This version depicts Christ moving towards the beholder, rather than standing still, with His right hand elevated in a gesture of blessing, gazing directly at the observer. The first iteration of Hyła’s painting included a pastoral backdrop, which was later omitted in subsequent replicas for being considered “non-sacred”.

As dusk fell and I was in my quarters, I beheld a celestial being, the harbinger of divine justice. Adorned in a radiant garment, his countenance shone brilliantly, with a nimbus at his feet. From this nimbus, bolts of thunder and streaks of lightning were drawn into his grasp; and from his hand they launched, striking the earth only thereafter. Witnessing this harbinger of divine justice poised to afflict the earth, and particularly an unnamed locale for valid reasons, I beseeched the celestial being to delay, that the world might seek atonement. Yet, my entreaty seemed insignificant against the divine indignation.
