Charlie Smyles debut album ‘Charlie Smyles vs Captain Shophie’ was released to the public in 2010. A mixture of jazz blues, alternative rock and electronica – pushing the boundaries of coherency with lyrics that challenge the listener. He later produced and published his second album called ‘Electro Sold-Out’ in 2012, which is pure electronica mixed with dreamy melodies as though he is whispering into his audiences ear of a new era.

Trained in all aspects of Theatre, acquiring a Bachelor Of Arts (majoring in Theatre Studies) at ‘University of New England’ (2000-2004). Later he moved to Melbourne where he studied Jazz/Contemporary Music – primary instrument piano – acquiring an Advance Diploma of Music from ‘North Melbourne Institute Technology’ (2008-2009).

During this time and thereafter Charlie performed in many alternate Melbourne bands. These bands include, ‘Black Swans of Trespass’, ‘Charlie and The Smyles’, ‘Good Suns’, ‘Jazz City’, ‘Squid Squad’, ‘Cabaret Antique’ and ‘Letter B’ (2009-2014). Recorded a total of 7 albums and toured Australia.

During time spent with these band he shared the stage with renowned artists such as ‘Courtney Barnett’, ‘Dan Sultan’ and future soul giants ‘Hiatus Kaiyote’ amongst others.

Charlie has toured around Australia and played at many well known venues and festivals across the nation.
