Here is a serene. joyful, and triumphant setting of the Christmas carol "O Come, All Ye Faithful" (ADESTE FIDELIS) for SATB choir with optional strings. The choral edition is available in either English or Latin. The work may also be played by stings alone (String Quartet, String Ensemble, or String Orchestra). The first verse is taken from an arrangement by 19th century composer Samuel Webbe (1740-1816). The other stanzas are original. The choral version begins with a soloist inviting the faithful to join a great, joyful, and triumphal procession to Bethlehem. The full choir joins by repeating the last part of first stanza, a lost tradition that is evident in early hymnals and arrangements of this carol. In successive stanzas, each voice part takes a turn leading the joyous procession by singing the melody. Pivot modulations, interesting harmonies, soaring descants, and unique vocal textures characterize this arrangement. It will move both performers and audiences alike. This motet is the first of Three Motets on Latin Christmas Hymns.
