Sienna Morgan is a 15 year-old singer-songwriter from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She released her debut EP "The Hard Way" in 2014 and has a brand new 6-track EP coming out in October 2016 titled "What I Want".

These are my thoughts

Originally from Beloit, WI, USA, Pierre Charles is a Los Angeles-based film composer and jazz pianist. After completing a degree in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University in 2016, Charles moved to Los Angeles and attended the University of Southern California to earn his masters in jazz studies while also studying film scoring. In 2017, Charles released his debut album, Better, which showcases his compositional and jazz language. In 2019, Charles received the SABAM Award For The Most Original Composition by a Young International Composer at the World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium.

 

In addition to his own projects, including White Coat Rebels (Participant Media) and Musicology (Quibi), Charles currently works with Emmy Award-winning composer, Kris Bowers. For Bowers, he has contributed music to several television shows and films including Space Jam: A New Legacy, Netflix’s Dear White People, When They See Us, and Bridgerton, Showtime’s Black Monday, and Hulu’s Mrs. America, Bad Hair and United States vs. Billie Holiday. Charles and Bowers are currently co-composing the score for an upcoming limited Netflix series.

With the release of the Brave album, Jordan Rodriguez brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with addicting guitar progressions, an honest lyrical approach, elements of funk and blues, and a heavy pop undertone throughout, the record boasts the aesthetic of alternative radio rock anthems. Though the songs are diverse from one another, there is a glue that holds them all together. Most importantly, the EP never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.

 

The first single and title track, “From Your Arms” is an instant soul rock classic. Complete with melodic vocal hooks, catchy choruses, and an almost 60’s style of songwriting, the song seems to breathe and build as it plays on.

 

“’From Your Arms’ is about our human connection to each other. A tie that is stronger than most anything. Inspired from the Marvin Gaye song ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’, this single comments on the current political climate. The significant message of From Your Arms is that there is no wall high enough, or border strong enough, to keep humans from the love and embrace of other humans”

Although the single does speak volumes for the album, to get a real understanding of where Jordan Rodriguez is coming from, the album should be heard in its entirety.

 

“Both albums are heavily inspired by funk. But as I moved into the album Brave, I wanted to tie in part of Detroit. I listened a lot to Motown and Soul music. This becomes prominent as you listen to the rhythm guitars in the new album. I also did more in mixing to give the Brave album an older 60-70’s vibe” says Rodriguez of the songwriting approach for the release.
Formed in 2015, my music began as a creative project. Hailing from Detroit Jordan was always inspired by the great history of Soul and Motown. The band write songs commenting on different areas of life or politics with an aim to bring the Soul and Funk of Detroit and fuse it with an Indie-Pop style of songwriting. When it came to Brave, I was heavily influenced by artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and The Funk Brothers. After a long but fun recording process, the Brave album was finally born. The album is the epitome of where the artist is with their sound right now.

The album is now available for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the band is working towards upcoming shows this Spring in support of their release.
