JUEL is a DJ with German and Sicilian roots, whose music has its roots in funk/soul/worldmusic. Her artist name is made up of the initials of her best friend JUdith and her own name ELena.
Only four years old Elena has lessons in classical music, playing the flute until 18. Music lessons at school and everyday love to music in her parents’ house soon get het her close to what she calls the essence of music.
Funk and Soul (from the 60s to the 80s) are the decisive influences in her childhood and youth. In these styles she had her first performances in public. She has nourished her inspiration for electronic music from those genres as well as from classical music. Till now Elena is deejaying both genre: funk/soul/world  and techhouse/house/deep house/downtempo. She loves mixing funk elements and driving basses with the beats of electronic music. She wants to prove that through her artist name: She is always looking for musical gems, “the jewels”, which she integrates into her sets.
Since 2014 she has been booked regularly by clubs and for special events. Moreover, she appears regularly and pro bono at special charity institutions (Café Mondial, Save Me, Des Souris pour le Togo,CSD).
She loves it, if she can make people dance and get wild, losing themselves and be carried away for a while.
Apart from solo appearances as a DJ it is JUEL’s great ambition to fuse electronic music with the analogue sounds of sax, e-guitar and percussion. She features various solo artists and brings them on stage as a band. Thereby she puts emphasis on a balanced mix of free improvisation and composed arrangements to create the dynamic and driving sound which is characteristic of the band's live performance.
