Rain included since its rains often on midsummer.

one of the traditional song numbers of the Walpurgis Mass celebration(midsommar)

Ancillary Sword is the second book in Ann Leckie's trilogy. It has all the froth of "civilised" society (drinking tea from prized tea sets) but with deep undercurrents of enslavement and genocide in its history. 
I've tried to capture some of that duality... perhaps it makes it a bit odd? Anyway, here it is!
