I’ve put on a few film remist festivals throughout this year, this is the third. The first was the Mystery Link festival, the second, the Geranium international festival, and…. now there’s the Kimbriki festival.

What’s the story with the name Kimbriki? Well, I used to live a couple of years ago in Palm Beach here in Sydney, twenty klicks down the road is the Kimbriki tip. It’s landfill, your classic tip, shoestrings, microwaves, dolls, refrigerators, plastic bags ’n all.
You cruise around the joint, drop of your junk if you’ve got any…. there’s a sort of hall there off to the side where…. they put things on in there, things go on there…. I don’t know what, but it’s a ‘government’ deal…. come to think of it I remember that they have a herb/vegetable garden growing out the back of it. Anyway you keep cruisin’ around and they’ve got a shop there, kinda a makeshift shack, kind of like from Gilligan’s Island, you know what I mean…. they sell stuff there real cheap, been scavenged or salvaged, however you want to say it - off the tip. By now (down in the valley of) Kimbriki you would have a faint but pleasant odour well and truly in your nostrils. At the shop there’s tables of all kinds, kitsch ones too, and the odd one that just might be alright - what you’re looking for. You could find anything from a stained glass window to a porcelain budgerigar there, from a door to a corny wooden commercial sculpture of Ned Kelly, or something.

Then you complete the sort of loop, drive through the checkpoint/toll gate and off you go….

Gees…. you might even find Neil Young there, sellin’ you cars, washin’ your windows ’n shinin’ your stars…. etc, etc, et al.

Anyway these films are certainly not trash, quite the contrary, I can say that.
Maybe that’s the sort of sardonic irony behind naming this the Kimbriki festival….

But it’s also true to say you never know what you might find at a tip…. and who knows, it just may be that this exact festival may be screened at the hall in Kimbriki, just have to check which way the wind’s blowin’ though….

The album’s title song reflects on the absurdity of society, of the world. The highway is, metaphorically speaking, a place of nonsensicality, much as Desolation Row represents a place of meaninglessness, desolation.

The opening lines of the song are,

God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”

Dylan is correct, this is an absurd concept, Elohim never lies. In order to test Avraham in this way he would have to lie to him in order to conceal his real purpose of testing him.

I made edits to Across The Universe, took out the lyrics,

There's some pagan references with the names here, to different pagan religions, not saying John was pagan, he wasn't, just lacked a little perception on this one. But not on many other things eh?
These names are also heard over the outro of the original (without the Om), I faded the track out before this.
(Interestingly David Bowie also took out these lyrics on his version of Across The Universe, on the Young Americans album, 1975).

-Hey Don Felder did you know that my father named a character after you in The Plumber* (1979). Not too many people have the name Don Felder, I haven't heard of anyone else. Peter saw your name on one of The Eagles albums as I recall it, thought why not use that name for one of the anthropologists in the film, the American guy. 
But I think you and the other Eagles can take it as a homage from him.

With Love’s In Need Of Love Today, I took out the lyrics,

The force of evil plans
To make you its possession
And it will if we let it
Destroy everybody
We all must take
Precautionary measures
If love and peace you treasure
Then you'll hear me when I say

I did this because it’s not up to us to make any given situation in life right (even though of course we may be involved), there is only one who can make it all right; Yihweh.

I applied a phaser to the outro of this track, and again re what’s mentioned above, taking out the line, 

It’s up to you

On the track Have A Talk With God, I edited out the lyrics,

Well he’s the only free psychiatrist that’s known throughout the world
For solving the problems of all men and women, little boys and girls

The reason I did this is because Elohim has no part in psychiatry.

With Village Ghetto Land, I also edited out the lyrics (save the last line) to create an instrumental version of the track, I added some variating delay to its latter half.

On Ordinary Pain, I edited out the second half of the track, and added a little reverb on the end cymbal hit (edit point).

On Joy Inside My Tears I did the same.

For the remist I retitled Black Man to This World Was Made For All Men. 
Like this title change I felt that the track claimed to be about the equality of all races yet was weighted in the (number of) lyrics first to the black man and last to the white man, thus nullifying the point of the song. So I took and rearranged some of the lyrics, losing a verse and chorus. One of the replaced lyrics (from another part of the song) was,

Use of martial arts
In our country got its start
By a yellow man

which I replaced with,

The ground were we stand
With the flag held in our hand
Was first the red man's

The track was also duplicated, the second track being put through a phaser then mixed back in. 
The song also ends earlier than the original (without the outro), due to its sudden ending I added in a cymbal hit.

-had a vision yesterday of Cher, was thinking about her at the time. In the vision she pointed into my soul deftly, to a certain place within it, kind of just above the waist, in the side of me, no negative emotion, pointing something out. 
After this came a second vision of Cher, her face with green eyes, totally green, sort of watery, like a stream, in a wonderful way, her face was in other colours, Yihweh indicating that she’s really seeing right now. Hats off to you sister, from me.
I get visions regarding different folks sometimes, whenever I do.

It comes to back to me now after writing this was a third vision in the series re Cher, this was actually the first one. She greeting me in a room, was like it was in a dinner party context, some gathering etc. She gave myself a hug, from the side, arm around the waist, while looking elsewhere in the room. I thought was does this mean, the way it was in the vision, what does she think of me. Yihweh came through with - She loves you, knows who you are, Eliyahu*, but also doesn’t idolise you.
So this connects up with the second vision, as above.

Anyway, you’ll always be with Sonny Cher, and who wouldn’t know, that Sonny & Cher go together.

I slowed Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds down a half step to its natural speed as recorded, likewise I sped he’s Leaving Home up a half step, to the same result. 
I edited Within You/Without You in three places, to remove some lyrics which were untrue/naive, here they are,

First verse,

I took out the first chorus,

For the remist I retitled the track from Within You Without You to Within You/Without You.

I decided to include You Know My Name (Look up the number) as the last track. This was recorded over three sessions (in May and June ’67), the first commencing a month after the last recording session for Sgt. Pepper’s. The outro features Brian Jones on alto saxophone.

This original release soundtrack features compositions by Bernard Herrmann. Side one of the original vinyl lp (tracks 1 - 5) is arranged and conducted by Dave Blume (one could see these as his versions of Herrmann’s tracks).
Tracks 6 - 10 feature the original film score as conducted by Herrmann.
There are other versions of the soundtrack from 1976 and after that feature additional and or different tracks to this one.

Due to some track shuffling the delay track later ended up a minute out of sync (forward) with the original. After initially correcting it, I went back to it, feeling that its unpredictability suited the track.

The Sunshine Band - The Sound Of Sunshine (Remisted)

I decided to creatively remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  

A selection of tracks from Wish You Were Here, 1975

With this remist, I basically wanted to use two alternate versions of two of the tracks (recorded during the sessions, 1975), incorporating them into the album. These two tracks were released on the Wish You Were Here Experience Edition cd, 2011. 

The first is a version of Have A Cigar with Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters singing lead vocals instead of Roy Harper who is guest vocalist on the original release. This alternate version also has an extended guitar solo.

The second is a version of Wish You Were Here which I feel is better in sound and arrangement than the released version, also features Stéphane Grappelli on violin. 

The alternate version of Have A Cigar has a fade out, to silence. In the released version of the album the track decreases rapidly in volume to a washy synth sound towards the end of the track. It’s then put through effects to give the effect of the audio being heard through a car radio. Wish You Were Here then begins also in reduced volume, coming to full level after its intro.
In the intro we can hear someone sniffing (barely audible), the idea being that they’re sitting there listening to the song.

With the outtake track I followed the same idea to a certain extent, including creating a washy synth sound to replicate the original, but when there’s the switch to the radio sound I also put a reverb on the mix to give the effect of a warehouse, i.e. the idea of a worker or workers in a corporate warehouse listening to the track. 
I added samples of radio static and a variating radio frequency sound (replicating the original) from effects on the the moog, through to the intro of Wish You Were Here. 
Towards the end of Wish You Were Here I created some wind sound using the moog, earlier into the track, again following on from the concept in the released album, later allowing the original wind sound to take over where it came in.

I also recorded a sniff (of my own) and some background sounds, replicating the original.

For the remist I retitled tracks,

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (Remisted)

I’ve decided to remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  Just felt I could give them a different kinda sound...

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. This is configured to colour, shape the sound. My versions are sometimes lower in vol level than the originals. Some releases are hot to signal, but I'm looking for an inherent sound.

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb. 

In Flight, 1977

For the remist I retitled the piece to XVI.

Remist cover features a cassette version of Breezin’ cover (1976), different from the original, with added title.

This is the sixteen and final album of Benson's. He was murdered by Bavel in 1977 and replaced by two lookalike false identities, one afer the other, the second still poses to this day.

-two hours after loading this album up, listening to the last track, and I get a visitation from George Benson, his spirit, from Shamayim. He was very loving, he stood next to me, I was sitting on my swivel chair. Elegant is not a word I use much for a person but he certainly was that, also very direct. I was given some visions from Yihweh at the same time, in them George was dressed in the same clothes as the Breezin’ album cover. In the second vision he went over to a chalkboard and wrote the word ‘original’ on it, looking back at me. Underlined it and placed a dot next to it. I said in my mind to him, You’re one of the main influences on my own music, meaning his thing of playing guitar over tracks, almost like a vocal line. Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and others have done this, but he’s the main one for me. He then wrote ‘yeah’ on the chalk board. There was the sense of a suggestion, which did come from him, why not you and I jam sometime, work on some music. It was just beautiful. The visions were as though he was in the nighttime but lit up. He then whacked a golf ball in my direction. As it came closer I noticed it had a small black triangle to the upper-left of it, representing Bavel. There was then a vision of him whacking the golf ball on a stage out to an audience, meaning to me, Keep on telling them. Then beside me, it was as though he was motioning to my right arm, it was my arm also in the vision, I thought, What does he mean. Then I got it, he motioned in a way to mean, may your arm be strong, something said of prophets. I was near overwhelmed by the experience, but in a nice way, lovely way. I said something positive to him about what he’d done, his music, I can’t remember what, he then bowed, some distance away in the vision, his eyes were really seeing. His bow was about that the music was gift for all, then he was gone, most gracefully. I'll always remember it, how could I not, and I’ll see him someday
