“Remind to Remember” is based on a poem by Terra Isis Gitane. For me this poem is about the essence. It provokes the essential lesson of life that we're all one, this rather non dualistic approach was a great inspiration for me. Yet I've found myself in the adventurous side of composing with contrasting and dualistic gestures. Being driven by eastern philosophy and the forces of nature, I aspires to compose by taking the elements of nature and transform them into musical gestures, where as the philosophical expression lies in the essence of the story.

Remind To Remember - for large ensemble and Soprano (2022)

"Echoes from the past" is a collaboration between Terra Isis Gitane and me. In this project i've been asked to develop new material based on Gaudeamus' vast archive of more then 75 years of music. We are both descendants from enslaved ancestors, so we decided to tell a story about our interpretations on the effects of colonialism. In this composition we're not only diving into the history of Gaudeamus, but in our African and Surinamese history as well.
