Many, like myself, are left questioning why we must pay for healing when we did not choose to be victims in the first place.

The Deep Wounds of Trauma

The need for therapy arises not only from the act of violence itself but also from the complex emotions that follow, creating a multifaceted psychological landscape that can be incredibly difficult to navigate. Survivors of violence, particularly sexual assault, often grapple with a myriad of intense feelings, including guilt, shame, anger, and confusion. These emotions can be compounded by societal attitudes that frequently place blame on the victim rather than the perpetrator. Such societal narratives can lead to a toxic environment where survivors feel pressured to remain silent, further exacerbating their emotional turmoil.
