London star Alexis Raphael returns to Hot Creations with the dance floor killer It’s Kinda Jazzy, with fine French exports Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier teaming up to deliver the remix with electrifying results.
Title track It’s Kinda Jazzy is an ultimate peak time weapon. Alexis explains how it’s “a real melting pot of different musical influences that have inspired me over the years. There's everything from Hip-Hop to 90's UK House and Garage, Jungle/Drum and Bass, upfront House and Techno and, of course, Jazz.” On the flip Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier deliver a solid remix that keeps the pace, changing gear through trippy turns. Last up, second original track Strip Off lays down the swing with sultry vocal slices.

An influential player on the London scene, Alexis Raphael earned his stripes across the pirate radio stations of North and East London during the late 90s and early 00s and went on to hold residencies at legendary London clubs The Cross and Bagley’s. His first release Spaceship was picked up by Hot Creations sub-label Hot Waves in 2011. Since then, he’s had numerous releases and remixes on labels including Jackathon Jams, Of Unsound Mind, Avotre and Get Physical and not forgetting his anthem, I Know.

Dan Ghenacia is the undisputed kingpin of the Paris underground scene, having founded and ran Freak N’Chic for seven years and now one of the three creative minds behind new label and b2b2b DJ outfit Apollonia. Chris Carrier is another heavy-weight from the French underground scene. Together they have delivered some recent killer EP’s on Appolonia, Music For Freaks and Adult Only.

We’re doing something a bit different for this next EP… so please read below.

First the music: we've got a massive release for you guys here with Parisian producer Clyde P's debut EP on the label! We were first introduced to Clyde via longtime friend of the label, wAFF, so right away we knew Clyde was on the same vibe as us. Shortly after we met, I found this beast of an EP in my inbox and I knew I wanted all three tracks immediately. Appropriately titled after the fat boy wrestler from Street Fighter named Zangief, this entire EP is meant for dance floor destruction. 

Here’s what’s different…

As you know, spreading our movement of love and positive energy as far and wide as possible will forever be at the core of our ethos - from the festival, to the parties, and of course from the label. With that in mind, we want to try a little experiment with this release. In order to grow our global audience of house and techno lovers like you, we need to utilize all the resources available to us. Right now the single biggest resource for growing a record label’s influence is constantly having music in the charts on Beatport. In the beginning, this wasn’t a major concern to us, as we’ve always done things differently at Desert Hearts, but we’ve learned that this matters to the majority of artists out there who want to get the most out of their productions. 

We want to bring the best and brightest onto the label and that means providing artists with as many resources as possible to grow their own audience. So for this EP, we are asking our family to do us a massive favor and support Clyde P’s release on Beatport, which will help us reach new people around the world via their global platform. 

And if you really can’t afford to purchase the music, we got you! This is not the end of our completely free record label! ALL of our music will be available for free on SoundCloud and Spotify, and you can still download the music for free 10 days after it hits Bearport…  just like before. <3

Since its inception in 2005, Kittball has cemented its reputation as one of the go to labels for high energy, dance floor focused house music. Kittball Konspiracy is the imprints various artist series, showcasing tracks from regular contributors as well as up and coming talent. The fifteenth volume features imprint bosses Tube & Berger, Juliet Sikora, who’s previous collaboration ‘Did You Take My Money’ ranks as Beatport’s best-selling house track of 2017, Marc Werner, Roumex and more.
Tube & Berger start proceedings, providing ominous tones and bass-driven grooves throughout ‘Substate’, before Gabriel & Castellon offer up the hypnotic and infectious ‘Such A Tool’. Lars Moston combines with Juliet Sikora for ‘Conduct’, delivering intoxicating synth hooks and rumbling low-ends, whilst Marc Werner returns to Kittball with a series of mesmerizing arpeggios and intense risers in ‘Roads’. Next up, Roumex’s contribution ‘Nemesis’ lays down spaced out melodies and sustained bass tones, before Denace 2 Society closes the package, utilising shuffling percussion and smooth synthesizer motifs in his remix of Whoami’s ‘Rehab’.

Javi Bora and Bimi go back to the 90s roots of house music bringing back the funk and the groove on Rhythm 94. This sounds like early funky roots of Dennis Ferrer, Wava, Blaze and early works of Tiger Stripes. Thumbs up!
