Com 33 anos de carreira completados em 2012, Julio Reny busca sempre o novo. Recusa-se a se entregar as agruras de um mercado fonográfico que prejudica os poetas/músicos românticos e que beneficia o descartável. Julio Reny jamais vai ser descartável. Porque ele é daquelas figuras que se reciclam na medida certa, sem se tornar óbvio. Com composições que destoam do protocolo rockeiro e acordes rebuscados para a métrica previsível do rock ‘n’ roll, Julio bebe do imaginário bukowskiano, mistura com o romantismo de Roberto Carlos, passa pela malandragem de Hank Willams, sofre como Lupicínio Rodrigues e absorve a cultura pop como poucos. O pop de “popular”, o real sentido da palavra. Um artista que consegue falar do cotidiano com poesia só pode levar a bandeira de ícone de sua aldeia. E quem domina sua aldeia se torna cidadão do mundo, digitalizando sua arte nas cabeças pensantes do planeta.
