Soulful, Funky and Deep
DJ wOW grew up around the music since a young age and he has been involved with some kind of musical activity for most of the life. From his early teens he developed a taste for music. Now his featured music styles are Soulful, Funky and Deep. His mixes are always unusual and full of the experiments within these styles of House. Spinning CD’s, he is especially recognised for his own artistic style. His sound is extremely energetic and blended up with soul vocals, funky and soulful beats fused together to create an intense uplifting energy. Each performance is a unique experience as his way of connecting with the dance floor changes with each venue. However, he maintains consistency through his unbeaten objective of delivering fun. He would like to be associated with a smile and he’s sincerely interested in the success of all parties involved during his performances. Playing on the special house parties with other DJs, his music merges together. Recently he has been visiting the capital of Lithuania where he was playing on “Filtered tools” parties as a headliner of the show parties. In the present, he works with Dj Pols in the "Essential club". Every single weekend in the Pink Room a different world is created by DJ wOW and DJ Pols. At that given moment only one world exists: Their World. Their Rules. Their Music. Distant from the routine life everyone is used to live. They set up their World the way that people can’t wait for the next weekend to live through that feeling again... and again. Besides their own audience they have their own music style: The Pink House that is also full of colors, feelings, emotions. The top of the music can be easily found on the official website of Essential Club. In 2004 DJ got to know the passion of Iberican and Balearic rhythms, which was a great discovery for the DJ wOW. Sometimes in his mixes all of these styles melodies can be found, and he admits that still this pleasant sensation of hot rhythms makes him feel gratified and joyous. At the same time, in 2004, he found his pleasure in the little known Trentemoller tracks, and there was the origin of his love to Deep House. He organized his own bizarre parties, which were always set up to satisfy clubber’s desires as much as possible. One of the successfully lead parties is "SUMMERtown", which had four sessions in club "Tonuss" in 1 year (2004-2005) with the best foreign headliners, concept installation and organising show. In addition, he organized orange and green night of "Move Session" in cinema "Riga". Two sessions lead him together with the association "4music" in 2004, which has changed the traditions of the club actions. Another party was Open Air "Miami Night" - atmosphere of sand, water, and nature connected with soul - in the end of summer 2004, and 2005 gave everyone an extraordinary feeling of being a part of the music that DJ’s gave to the audience. Dancing in the moonlight, seeing the stars, feeling the music from from the hair follicles to the toenails is what everyone wants to give the people and this is what DJ wOW achieved successfully. From 2005 to 2007 he was working in the weekly youth magazine “EN”, where he in collaboration with the famous DJ Bogdan Taran carried a column about the city night life. In the year of 2008 he seriously got involved in the producing. He mixed and mastered his first quality compositions and he really has to be proud about some of them. The remixes of Flyingmice & Dj Crash – Back to Chicago were the best impulse for the artist to begin his journey in the right direction. It was the first step in the direction he was looking for but he couldn’t find since 2006. And, most importantly, he thinks that it’s not enough if music goes though the mind, it must flow though the soul. Elena Holodkova 19.03.2008

Julius Papp is one whose dedication to music has propelled his career as a producer and DJ in the dance/club music scene. His dance music roots lie in Disco of the 70’s and New Wave of the 80’s. Presently living in San Francisco, he was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and got tuned into dance music through the city’s flourishing club scene and diverse radio broadcasts. He started collecting vinyl records in the mid 70’s and took to the turntables in 1985, scoring his first major club gig two years later.
 
Hearing the non-stop flow of music and observing the booth where each DJ seamlessly blended each selection were early influences for Julius. Later influences included reading about DJ residencies that were piloted by talented club music programmers that even today, influence the youngest of aspiring DJs.  Legends, like David Mancuso at The Loft & Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage in New York City to Frankie Knuckles at The Warehouse in Chicago and Tony Humphries’ weekly at Zanzibar in New Jersey.  Always sparked by any music listed in those articles, Julius would shop for those titles that have become classics, worshipped by their discerning audiences. To this day, his goal is to keep expanding his foundation in music by being open-minded and eclectic in absorbing the music that truly touches him.
 
That open-minded attitude is what Julius uses to fine-tune his musical palette, which gives him a dominant sound that exudes a deep and soulful perspective.  That dominant sound is (Soulful) House Music – which to him, is about an uplifting positive message. People coming together in unity, with no barriers or restrictions, but rather, with tolerance and the spirit of music, unifying everyone on the dance-floor.  That being said, he blends various musical styles together - including Soul, Latin, Afro, Disco, Jazz and Electronic sounds with such fluidity, that it is difficult at times to put a defining stamp on his sound. Contributing to that is his willingness to take a chance. He always tries to push the envelope by introducing music that deserves exposure, taking his audience on a musical journey with various mood and energy changes.
Not content to limiting his ambitions in the DJ booth, Julius began producing music in 1994. The studio was another outlet for Julius’ creative ideas to flow. His first release was a down-tempo project on the Acid Jazz tip.  He also drew attention as part of the jazz and funk scene in San Francisco via the Mushroom Jazz parties alongside creator and resident Mark Farina.
 
As Julius’s production catalogue grew, so did the amount of labels he released music on including – long tenured labels like “Nervous Records” (NYC), “King Street Sounds” (NYC), “Large Music” (Chicago) and “OM” (SF), to signings on “Soulfuric Recordings” (FL) and Kenny Dope’s “Dope Wax” (NYC) label, as well as Bob Sinclar’s  “Yellow Productions” in Paris. In 2018, Julius released his Phunk Odyssey EP on Miguel Migs’ “Salted Music” label. Co-hosting the long running Salted SF events with Migs, it was an honor to make his artist debut on the label.
 
He also ventured into the label arena with his own “NeoDisco Music” imprint.  Named after the sound that continues to inspire him – the small, independent label offers him an alternate outlet to release his own productions.

During the past 2 years through the pandemic, Julius has remained active with live DJ sets via virtual broadcasts while also returning to regular events in front of a welcoming dance-floor… Let The Music Play…
