Bet.e & Stef took the country by storm over a decade ago with their pop meets jazz, bossa-nova and latin stylings. Remarkably, they earned a Gold record in Canada with their self-released first album, "Jazz Bossa Nova". A deal with Japan's Toshiba-EMI soon followed, along with interest from every major record label in Canada. This JUNO-nominated duo from Montréal, Québec chose to partner with Universal Music Canada, achieving Platinum with their second album, "Day By Day.'' Both milestones were even more remarkable given their global, multilingual sound was a far cry from the pop music du jour. Numerous sold-out performances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival earned them critical acclaim that took them beyond borders. Radio success in Québec, across Canada, and in Japan followed with their hit singles ''Day By Day'' and ''It's All Right'' spending weeks at the top of the charts. In 2003, Bet.e and Stef began exploring solo careers, respectively releasing ''b.coming''' and ''In From the Cold.''

Michal DJ Schwa is the man behind Beef records and electronic duo Shades Of Gray. Their debut album “Soul Machine” was critically acclaimed by the press receiving glowing reviews in DJ Mag and DeBug to name a few. Tracks from the album have been charted and played by some of the key players in the scene and also licensed for OM records, Defected and Clubstar compilations.
Cameron Cooper is a young producer from Sydney, Australia with a strong passion for Deep House and Dance music across the board. Breaking into the scene early 2013, having his remix selected by Joyce Muniz (BRAZIL, Exploited) on JackMode, a label with thousands of followers. The Australian producer puts all his thoughts on creating a deep and harmonic texture to all his tracks, with releases on Compost Black, Trojan House Records, Mystery Train, Something Different, PLAYNOW and many more.. Naked Music is a dance music record label, centered in San Francisco and New York City. It is known for smooth signature deep house and downtempo. It began life as a production company in New York, in 1992, when founders Dave Boonshoft and Jay Denes scored underground success with releases on indies such as Francois Kevorkian's Wave Music, and UK's XL Recordings. A string of high-profile remixes followed with artists as diverse as Sade, Kelis, Maxwell and Britney Spears. Blue Six is the alias of producer Jay Denes, whose debut album, Beautiful Tomorrow, delivered a mix of deep house, soulful pop, and smooth jazz. In 1998 the production company became a true record label. It was distributed by Astralwerks Records.

For this, the tenth release on his self titled label, Sonarpilot pays homage to the roots of today's electronic music scene. We get three strong mixes from Sonarpilot himself and a remix from up and coming South African House producer, Rudo Deep.
The Original version of 'In The Beginning' sits well with his output from last year, specifically the works his second album 'Radar'. Here we get a more straight up tech-house groove with deep subby kick tones, noises and glitch effects, upbeat chord stabs and of course those catchy synth bass riffs we have become accustomed to from Sonarpilot over the years.
The first of three Sonarpilot mixes on the package is the 'Tech Mix'. Its stark drum machine patterns and industrial flavour will likely appeal to the fans of Trevino and Martyn, the falling and rising stabs, Detroit flavours and twisted vocals bring giving it a raw, futuristic feel. The track breaks down mid-way through to entering a distinctly darker, quieter space before a more haunting melody line is introduced.
Sonarpilot's 'Disco Dub' mix takes crosses the track over into much more jazzier territory. The needle drops onto the vinyl, we get a classic, disco flavoured bass guitar line, brass stabs and broken beat style drum track. There's almost an air of Jazzanova here... its an uplifting and funky track in the truest sense of the word. Sonarpilot as ever though is never too predictable, things switch to deeper and darker places along the way, reinforcing his signature production ideas into the mix.
Young, up and coming South African producer Rudo Deep provides the alternative remix on the package, delivering a stunning afro-deep interpretation of In The Beginning. It's the type of lush warmth you'd associate with kings of the deep house scene; Andre Lodemann, Atjazz and Jimpster and it's a remix that convinces us Rudo Deep is a real name to watch.

Two of the most respected songwriters in our scene, Kafele and Eliki come together again to deliver nothing short of a sexy masterpiece.  Eliki, (pronounced Ee-like-ee) is an artist known for her sweet soulful tone. 
A voice that reminds you of a past generation with a wordplay and style that reflects the here now.  Kafele, trumpeter, composer and producer, has been playing the trumpet for over 20 years. The name Kafele (pronounced kuh-FAY-lay) is of African origin, and means worth dying for. Born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  We are so excited to be able to bring this inspiring team to you on this release.

On remix duties we have some of our favorite young stars doing what they do best.  DJ Cecil's Beatdown is exactly that, a soul-filled broken beatdown straight from the Bay Area.  While rising star and fellow Ocha artist Ezel brings his signature Quisqueya Soul sound and takes the tune for a ride.  South African superstar Eltonnick representing red hot Baainar Records delivers a remix that has already proven to be a chart-topping smash in SA and last but certainly not least, Israel's Yotam Avni lets the vocals breathe and tells us "More is Less".

Mercyless is arguably one of my most successful release to date. Originally released on my 2008 album "Lost Together" on Om Records and featuring Wayne Tennant on vocals, it became an anthem in South Africa amongst other places, thanks to the Atjazz Remix, who crossed over so many genres and sat on the Traxsource Top 10 for months. 

Fast forward 7 years, and the track still gets love. Out of the blue, my good friend Atjazz sent me this new updated version he did to play in his set, an edit of his original remix. This takes an already legendary remix to another level. 

We are proud to be releasing this exclusive Remix on Lazy Days. Vinyl and Digital out.
