Unknown and with little to recommend him, Kahl Monticone is a guitarist, artist & record shop worker. A member & ex-member of countless groups including Jive Canyon, The Quartet For The End Of Time, McKisko and the Sidewalk Regrets. He co-curates the BOOM VACUUM live music series.

Monticone’s music is meditative but also oddly disquieting in the best possible way. Listening to his music, images appear then transform into something else like the mylar photography of Ira Cohen; songs resonate from the strings of his guitar with the intensity of the drumming rituals of Haiti captured by Maya Deren whilst others have the languid beauty of Bola Sete’s Ocean and Jungle Suite. However, it all sounds uniquely Monticone. Beamed in from Brisbane (of all places), it's a special discovery.
