Blitzing techno from Tbilisi’s finest, @newa takes the reins of number 13 in the Junction 2 mix series.

A resident of techno stronghold Bassiani, Newa is at the forefront of the fledgling underground scene in her home country of Georgia. Growing up classically trained, the Icontrax label boss has made a seamless transition into the electronic music sphere to land huge releases on labels such as Klockworks, Semantica and Arsenik. With her diverse sets exploring low-level bass, squelching acid and potent melodies, she has become a favourite on Ben Klock’s touring event series Photon and showcases why she is one to watch with a standout mix for the Junction 2 series.

Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

Newa is now one of BASEMENT’s first residents. Her BASEMENT mix kicks the series off with a bang. Her set exemplifies techno at its rushing, futuristic best. Churning with a fleet-footed defiance, these 65 minutes show her firing on all cylinders. Describing the club, she says: “The first time I entered it, it felt like home. Una complessità creata da band nelle quali militavano (quasi in segreto) i nomi più autorevoli della musica italiana.
