Long-time UK techno mainstay D.A.V.E. The Drummer lands on Arkham Audio with the explosive ‘Dirty Rave’ EP, featuring remixes from Joe Farr, Per Pleks, Uncertain and Lukas. The potent 'Dirty Synth Rave' opens up D.A.V.E. The Drummer’s ‘Dirty Rave’ EP on Arkham Audio’s Arkham XXX offshoot with a searing mix of warped synth motifs, unrelenting drum pressure and bristling percussive energy. The German-born, Dortmund-based hard techno titan Per Pleks then remixes the track. His version is even more intense, with walls of rusty and rattling drums washing over the dance floor in waves. Dark sirens add edge as synths slash through the mix before Uncertain pairs things back with funky techno drums, skewed synth stabs and ice-cold hi-hats. 

Then comes the brilliant 'Dirty Squat Rave', which is a throwback to the hard days of techno with its flat-footed kicks and menacing synths screwing their way through the mix. It's an uncompromising track that will sweep aside anything in its wake. Bristol's underground stalwart Joe Farr follows and reimagines the track, bringing plenty of swing to his loopy and captivating rework. 'Kids On Pills' is the final original from D.A.V.E. It's a turbulent peak-time banger with more industrial synth lines weaving through huge hi-hats and slamming drums. Lukas then remixes this one with even more urgency and a sense of synth terror. 

D.A.V.E. The Drummer has had a huge hand in shaping the techno underground over the last 30+ years. He has done so with his Hydraulix, Apex, and Mutate To Survive record labels while releasing on a huge, tastemaking list of others. His experimental productions and high-impact DJ sets always leave destruction in their wake. From dark to hard, stripped back to acid-laced, he has done it all in his unique way with great success. CINQUEDEA - NO LOVE (D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER REMIX) - Preview

This release is a mixture of tracks written on (mostly) rainy days in the studio when I was feeling like doing something different, slower, more melodic, playing with some new sounds.

I normally hate it when people use the word 'melodic', becuase nowdays it just means bland. I never want to use bland, cliched, obvious melodies in my music.

So, these tracks are hopefully designed to make the listener think a little for themselevs, to decide if they like them or not, they are not using the latest trendy sounds or fashionable ideas, they may not be 'easy' although they do hint at some past era's of dance music and try loosely to fit within the 'detroit' techno genre whatever that is, which is a form of techno I've always loved. 

These tracks mostly concentrate on grooves and space, with long building arrnagements to transport the listener on a bit of a journey, and I've tried to present them as emotional outlets for how I was feeling at the time, coupled with some happy accidents and a little bit of studio experimentation.
They may not be the most unique or original techno tracks in the world (what is orginal these days?) but they are my tracks and I'm proud of them for that.
