It is a Monday--and, among many other things, that means that Interbay reaches back into the past, pulls out an experiment produced before tracks started being posted exclusively to SoundCloud, gives that piece of history a Rethink Remake Remix and presents to you an exclusive remix--a new track based on a slightly older track.  

Today's track was known as Experiment 53--and the original can still be found on the Interbay music project Facebook page.  It started life as a one minute entry in Eliminate's Audio Combat YouTube production challenge, with the original sample that needed to be worked with being an autotuned baby--because...Eliminate, naturally.  

It did not take as much to bring this track up to meet the requirements I now put on tracks that I post here on SoundCloud--compared to other RRR exclusive remixes.  It already had vocal elements, it already had structure.  Most of the rethinking and remaking were about sound design and mastering--getting it to sound better than it did when I made it, knowing what I know thanks to additional experience.  

The end result, if I could sum it up in a single word (and knowing the danger I'm putting Icarus in,) that word would be madness!  

Some of you will certainly be amused by that!

Now, an RRR mix doesn't necessarily mean "the definitive" version.  There is an argument to be made that I might have made this track slightly on the busy side--and that there was a clarity in the original version that some may find more compelling.  (If you've been here, following the Interbay rollercoaster, you know that my neurodivergent brain craves novelty--so one of the risks in taking an already completed project, opening it back up, and "seeing what I could do with it" would be that I could clutter up something that worked just fine (and maybe better.)  

In all aspects of my life, especially at the moment it seems, I admit to having problems editing myself...or containing my tendency towards "more".  

BUT...I also think that there are clear reasons why this RRR is better than the original (including making the annoying autotuned baby a little less annoying.)  

I'd be curious as to your thoughts on the matter.  (The original can be found on the Interbay music project Facebook page--search for Experiment 53 to find it there.)
