La andaluza Virginia Maestro no es la típica cantante y compositora. Está tan influenciada por los grandes nombres del soul y del blues como por la multitud de facetas del pop y del jazz, y este cruce personal de inspiraciones culturales e intergeneracionales le ha llevado a hacerse un nombre en la música española. Desde el arranque de su etapa en solitario en 2008 su carrera ha tenido unas raíces claras, pero también ha sabido aportar sus carácter propio para crear algo nuevo a partir de los artistas que adora, como deja claro con 'Del Sur' (Gran Sol, 2019), su más reciente y aplaudido trabajo hasta la fecha, que fue grabado en Nashville por Collin Linden (Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris). En estos 12 años de carrera ha publicado un total de cinco álbumes y un EP, ha alcanzado el #2 de la listas de ventas en dos ocasiones, fue ganadora de Operación Triunfo y ha realizado innumerables conciertos en España, además de Inglaterra y Estados Unidos. Adicionalmente, la sorprendente multitud de facetas que atesora le han llevado también a coproducir varios discos, componer para otros artistas como Raphael e incluso ganar un premio a mejor banda sonora.
