For the twenty-fourth Moonlight Mixtape, we’re wishing a happy birthday to Resident Pinkowitz, who’s celebrating the occasion with a cinematic journey through his original productions. He’s had an incredible year, with 2023 bringing releases on organic house mainstays @amulangamusic, @3rdavenuelabel, @thepurrmusic, @daydreamers_soundavenue, @beadultmusic, and @anokamusiclabel. This week’s mix includes some of his favorite 2023 releases (we’re looking at you, “Cabernet Sky” EP), some brand-new tunes (“Growth in the Dark”), and a few unreleased delights. Pinkowitz sets the scene with an ethereal opening that evokes a sense of calm and contemplation before layering heat and rhythm into a masterful build and an emotive, high-energy finish. It’s ideal for creative flow or a crowded floor, and we think it’s a work of apt comparison to the way he balances a rich studio output with his knack for lighting up the night behind the decks.

Being into music since his early years, @aeuum has developed signature output that transcends barriers of genres and co-creates a space that is connected with all within all. Influenced by the sound of Psybient and downtempo when he found himself inspired in production around 2010 and his life since is all about the music and creating space for like-minded people.

Production wise devotion magnified around 2015/16’ when he released his debut 4-track EP “Perceptions” with natural ambiental and Idm-ish flavors and then yearly contributed to his musical catalogue. His sound is mostly influenced by Psychill and as of lately, he likes to dive more into melodic aspects of vocals and sensual purity. Without a doubt, we can all appreciate his influence on our local and wider alternative scene as an artist and a profoundly wise fellow human.

aeuum is a part of Slovenian crew Just Friends from Ptuj, that co-creates a quality space for alternative music & various art forms in local area, he is also in symbiotic musical partnership/duo with his girlfriend “Katyeuum”, he runs Youtube channel called Psyght that supports Slovenian artists with publishing tracks and manages (KUD) Furstova hiša in Ptuj that is crucial cultural space for developing artists.

In correlation with the longer nights and colder days, I’ve selected some of my favorite dark and progressive tracks. These are some of my favorite selections on the spectrum of techno.

With a new year on the horizon, we are provided an opportunity to reflect on our experiences and the lessons learned. We can sort through the memories and choose to take with us the good or the bad. We can choose to grow. To me, this music combines the deep, the emotional, and a hint of tribal with the underlying hard driven support. In this mix I attempt to depict what the end of this year means to me. This is that story. Welcome to Memoria 004.

Jungle Jimn is a native Chicago DJ and Producer now residing on the West Coast in sunny San Diego. His signature style of driven house and melodic drums combines influences from all over including Chicago, Detroit and Mexico.

You can find him playing all over Southern California and beyond with the Casa Del Soul music collective. They focus on underground dance music events with a highlight on minimal and tribal sounds. 

Jimn currently has a release on Deep Tech Recordings that climbed its way to the top 10 Deep House charts in 2022. Keep an eye out for more original work coming out in 2023.
