Grimy, dirty and with basslines that ricochet, Digital Terror Records present another EP to give your aural synapses a real workout. It's exactly what you can expect from a label who time and time again have delivered some of the nastiest records since they began. Filling the jump-up rave with the likes of Jayline and Macky Gee, they've come through with some of the sub-genres biggest names to date. And now, they're back alongside artist K-Motionz to bring you dancefloor fire like no other.

First track ‘Cartel' is both jaunty and belligerent. It stands as a precursor for what's to come and it demonstrates that neither K-Motionz or Digital Terror Records are prepared to water down their sound. It picks up pace before catapulting you against grating snares and robotic distortion, a nasty surprise for anyone that was expecting an easy ride.

‘Survive' is an instant headnodder, with an intro padded out in jungle breaks and illusive sample. You're then dropped into a furious grind machine of stabbing beats and punchy bass. It's difficult not to be compelled by a track as bouncy as this, yet one that still impacts harder and harder with each arrangement.

On a different vibe, ‘Transmission' is slightly deceptive. Lulling you into a false sense of security, it once again utilises the K-Motionz drop pattern you'll be well acquainted with by now. A melodic harmony takes you through its first thirty seconds, before you're kicked steeply down a cliff hager of steroid driven subs and Gameboy like tweets. There's no slowing down for this EP.

And lastly, comes title-track ‘Warzone', ending the EP with a bang. A collaboration with label-mate Fraksure, it's the bringing together of chaotic minds, one that causes absolute dancefloor devastation. An active hook sweeps you between each peak, taking you through its aggressively slicing beats and raucous frequencies. It's an apt way to bring ‘The Warzone' to an end… One with a very relevant title for these four fighting tunes.

The Rum Baba is a Bristol based producer who was first discovered on Soundcloud and released 'Stop Talk' and '80's Animal' on a New York label Ninthwave in 2012. These tracks went on to be championed by Manchester stalwarts Dub Phizix, Strategy and Chimpo with Dub Phizix also including 'Stop Talk' on his eponymous Fabric Live 84 CD.

Hailed in Fact Magazine's best Bandcamp releases of August 2014 and a remix of 'Baile Folk Girls' included on Chuck Upbeat's Mad Decent supported EP. The Rum Baba went on to co-write 'No One Else' with Mikal for his critically acclaimed 'Wilderness' album on Goldie's Metalheadz. After two further EP's, Doc Scott requested tracks that eventually led to this next release for his label 31 Recordings. Five very different tracks all with the unmistakable Rum Baba sound that also includes a fresh exclusive VIP rework of Stop Talk. 

Defined as reggae, moombahton, tropical bass, drum and bass, dancehall and hip hop, amongst a myriad of other genres. The Rum Baba has a distinctive and often-named "trademark" style mostly inspired by a childhood immersed in UK and Caribbean Bass culture and latterly hanging out with way too many DnB producers. 

Supported by Doc Scott, Dub Phizix, Chimpo, Strategy, Break, Om Unit, Mikal, Ivy Lab, Storm, London Elektricity, Blu Mar Ten, Friction, Mako, RIOT (Buraka Som Sistema), Think Tonk, Equiknoxx, Hipsters Don't Dance, Rukus, Smutlee and played in all the usual outlets like BBC Radio 1 and 1XTRA, BBC 6 Music, RMX (Mexico), Noisey (Vice), The Selector (British Council) & Rinse FM

7th Storey Projects are extremely excited to present Collisional Process Volume 1 – a three track EP featuring tracks from three artists that need little introduction to those in the know.

First up is “Stories & Visions” by Necrotype (Diamond Life, Jungle Rollerz), an atmospheric roller with a haunting soundscape, replete with skittering drums, mentasm stabs and huge sub-bass lines.

The second track is “Sepulchral” by Drum Cypha (Holotype Audio, Scientific Wax, Timeless Recordings), a schizophrenic amen banger in the best tradition of early Lemon D work.

The EP is rounded off with the epic and beautiful “Triton Dawn” courtesy of Law & Kola Nut (Repertoire, Silent Force) – a warm welcome to 7th Storey Projects to these two talented guys!

It'd been a while, and when a gap opened up in the promomix schedule, Arnicvs decided to jump right in. Listening to past promomixes kept sparking that itch he couldn't scratch. Playing a weekly show is one thing, curating a mix something else entirely.

Arnicvs turned on his turntables and trusty - but these days slightly crackly - 17-year old Pioneer mixer and went to work. Desillusion set in pretty quickly. Only 80 minutes, and just too many great tunes to choose from. He wanted to make an effort of showcasing more recent acquisitions. It was tough.

However, hours of selecting and a couple of takes along, he is proud to present the result and hopes you will not be disappointed. Some ambient, some ethereal soundscapes, funky layered breaks and of course the signature amen climax, all brought together in the storytelling style that defines Arnicvs!

Parallel has been a part of the JT family for 8 years now, since his first appearance on Warbreaker's show in 2011, joining up for his own show in 2013. Needless to say we were delighted when he signed up for our monthly promomix, and excited to present you with this showcase of his own work!

DJing since 1999 and producing since 2003, Parallel saw his first vinyl release in 2007 on Pinecone Moonshine, with many releases following on labels such as DSCI4, BMTM, Subtle Audio, Alphacut, Omni Music and Criterion Records, working with artists like Relapse, Tim Reaper, Infest, Acid lab, Ahmad, Eschcaton, Scale and Sumone.

Still going strong, Parallel keeps busy, most notably at the moment on his project with Richard Houghten called 'A Cosmic Gift', as well as his residency with the Gnosis DnB crew, based in Portland, Oregon. When not working on music, you can find him cooking food at the Ramen joint called Noraneko.

We hope you'll enjoy this presentation as much as we do, and although he's on a break, keep an eye on the schedule while we work to find him a new spot!

We often talk about 'JT veterans' whenever we introduce our latest curator, but this month it's more like talking about that REALLY nice comfy chair you've had in your house for as long you can remember. Having said that, we are delighted to present the September 2019 promomix brought to you by ODJ!

ODJ has been DJing for about 19 years, and close to that when it comes to hosting the Dirtbox Radio show on jungletrain.net. The fact that this is only his fourth promomix installment is because he finds it daunting to pick 20 tunes out of some four or five thousand he's got at hand on vinyl and digitally. However, he set himself to it, and would like to add the following:

"I focused on showcasing some of my recent and past favorites - tunes that you really do need to hear - and kept it mostly dancefloor friendly. There are plenty of tunes in this mix that have personal stories attached to them, and a number of them still make the hair on my arms stand on end every time I hear or play them."

This promomix is dedicated to Maddie, ODJ's wife and dancing partner.

We hope you'll enjoy this mix, and don't forget to tune in to Dirtbox Radio every other Sunday night, from 01.00 - 05.00 CEST (ok, that's technically monday), 00.00 - 04.00 BST, 19.00 - 23.00 EDT, 16.00 - 20.00 PDT!
