The long-awaited first official LP from Michigan-based producer Sango, North, will release digitally on Soulection July 23, 2013 with vinyl to follow. 

Sango’s North brings forth a new sound, one that pulls from soul, rnb, future bass, hip hop and  broken beat fusing them together with seamless vocals chops and grooves. North features collaborations from a diverse group of artists like Australia’s Ta-ku, cinematic downtempo producer Atu, nu-soul singer JMSN, story-telling rapper WALDO, newcomer vocalist Brea and Dpat who produced ‘Remember You’ for Wiz Khalifa and The Weeknd.

Following major worldwide support for his refixes, EP’s and beat tapes from the likes of Brownswood’s Gilles Peterson, KCRW’s Aaron Byrd, and Noisey (VICE) to name a few, Sango is poised to elevate the definition of what “future” music is. 

10+ casual releases later, North combines the best of Sango over the last few years into one seamless musical journey. North is a love story of two people, on a journey, who find better things in themselves when they are with each other. North in Hebrew as noted visually in the album art [that Sango designed himself], representing a sense of “heaven” or  “glory” are symbolic to Sango, as he sees everything he does an artist for the greater glory, the greater good, as something bigger than himself.

North will also be available on all primary digital markets such as iTunes, Juno, Amazon, Beatport, ect.

I decided to put out a bunch of the stuff that has been sitting in the lab. These are all beats I made from somewhere between the late nineties and 2007ish.
Also put some of the unfinished tunes that were recorded here on this. Two tunes with my homegirl Tiombe Lockhart, one tune with the big homie C Rayz Walz, a freestyle iphone recording from PROPS of Renee Neufville over a beat i really like, one with Vinia Mojica that she co produced, which we did in one night as a scratch track for a CMJ showcase we had at PROPS.

My biggest struggle as a producer has always been trying to accurately capture the concept / ideas that I hear in my head.
Learning more and more about orchestral arrangements and programming in a DAW sense, has allowed me to ever get closer. 
I decided to rearrange this piece as I have always felt that years ago when I had originally composed this, I lacked the musical maturity, technical expertise (mastering / mixing) or virtual instruments to capture accurately what I was hearing in my head.

@ohyeahpaulchin is a multidisciplinary artist & designer based in Toronto, ON. He works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer in the real world, and as a producer and DJ on the internet. Having grown from making breakbeats in his bedroom for a now-defunct rap career to producing more refined, yet less distinct, flavours of electronic music, Paul has self-released two solo EPs and one split EP with Cosmonostro teammate @elicolburn. His Cosmonostro debut, <a href="http://smarturl.it/cosmonostro-fossil">Fossil</a>, was a runaway success on the 2013 Advent Calendar, and he's finally returned with the full-length effort he's been crafting for months.

About
Building on themes and a sound initially explored in Paul Chin's previous EP, <a href="http://smarturl.it/love-letters">Love Letters</a>, The Forest explores the story of the individual and the world surrounding. Inspired by the writings of Donald Miller, the EP traces Chin's dreams for harmonious balance between care for the individual tree, and the greater forest which it is a part of. Chin also enlists frequent collaborator @johanna-wienh-lts as a companion storyteller in his latest electronic fable, composing his most thoughtful piece to date.
