Actual bass is from Waldorf Microwave.

The bass instrument itself is some kind of vox, not sure of the name but it's KORG something. Sonic and Tails are looking in disbelief in the thumbnail (or maybe I was just too lazy to make one). Oh also the marimba/xylophone instrument is actually from its source instead of some crappy recreation.

Also it was a total accident I found it, I just thought "huh that sounded kinda like it" and then compared and it sounded spot on, also checked through a spectogram and it came back as a VERY similar image.

Metropolis Past

Ha ha, yet another one of these.. but not Sonic 4 this time. No, this time it's something.. completely different. The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina, the fake anime intro episode to The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi (it was the first episode aired), and this was the "battle" music. The original sounds like it was done on the Microsoft Softsynth, and when I recreated it years ago in MIDI format playing it on said Microsoft Softsynth made it sound exactly the same. 

The reason for making this? Well, there's an SMPS competition (basically, Mega Drive music competition) that runs on the SSRG Message Board and I won the last round, meaning I could choose the next round's music. I chose this. :> This is my entry for this round.

Now, again, it's using VOPM and stuff right now, but eventually it'll be using the SMPS engine properly, so I made sure it'd work all fully using it with correct voices, etc. etc.

Carnival Night Zone Act 2 (Prototype) (Reinstrumented)

Heya, here's another S3 proto track! This week it's Launch Base 1! ^o^

When I first heard this tune in the proto, I actually didn't like this tune whatsoever. The melody and countermelody both took up 2 channels each which is really wasteful. The base composition is fine though, so I reworked it to better use the Mega Drive setup and bring out how good the tune actually is!

The goal of this remixing project was to make the beta tracks sound a lot more finished than they were in the beta. To be fair to the originals, they were in a beta state however I still wanted to tackle these tracks anyway since they're full on bops! :P

For all of the S3 proto remixes, I used VOPM and SN-EMU whilst keeping strictly to the Mega Drive's limits (for compatibility's sake).
