Bristol beatmaker hot shots The Allergies are well known across the world for their ability to dig through a crate, extract pure musical gold from the wax and rock a party like no other.

In one of our weekly yoga/wellbeing/group therapy/meditation workshop sessions here at the label it got us thinking what they could dig up if we opened up the Jalapeno vaults for them… Over 250 official releases with more funk than George Clinton’s dirty laundry, more soul than a sock with a hole and more dance than carnival time in Rio.

And so the brand new ‘Dig Jalapeno’ compilation series concept was born - unlimited artist access to the entire back catalogue for them to put together a killer set of tracks accompanied with a couple of new exclusives from them for good measure.

Needless to say the guys knocked it out of the park with their choices – a strong showing from their Bristol B-Boy crew - Boca45, Parker, The Beekeepers and of course some choice cuts from the likes of Soopasoul and Skeewiff. Throw in a never heard before track from themselves – ‘You Got Power’ and an exclusive new remix of their own 'Blast Off (feat. Andy Cooper)' and we’ve got ourselves a belter of a set. So get on down to party town and get involved with this digger’s delight!

James Brown for me is the biggest influence in my career!
The first record I ever owned was A James Brown 7”  on People Records "Breakin Bread".

I started collecting all things James Brown related and simply became obsessed with the JB groove. He really was an incredible character but unfortunately passed away in 2006 on Christmas Day, so I felt this was the perfect time to pay tribute to the Godfather of Soul & Funk. This mix encompasses a mixture of James Brown and his Funky People: Fred Wesley, Marva Whitney, Lyn Collins, Hank Ballard, Maceo Parker, The JB’s and more. Without doubt the hardest working man in show business, he toured the world constantly with his band and dancers, performed to millions bringing the Funk to the masses. Who would think back in the 60’s & 70’s that his music would be sampled and be the backbone of Hip Hop,music. The influence his music has had on so many peoples lives is extraordinary and without James Brown and his Funky people I don’t think Hip Hop and even Dance music would be the same. Thank you James RIP the original Funk Soul Brother!
