Premiere of "Copa Jams" taken from Mix Mup's forthcoming Hinge Finger release After The Job (HINF8675)

Due out later this month, the four track After The Job finds German producer Mix Mup in typically off-centre form; it also represents a return to the low-key nature of Hinge Finger’s debut transmission from Madteo after playing with the affections of countless YouTube-dwelling Blawan and Joy Orbison enthusiasts with their past two efforts. Whilst the previously aired “Bungalow” hinted that Kassem Mosse’s mate might be adopting a more meditative approach with this record, fans of Mix Mup’s knack for mangled house and techno coated in viscous fuzz will no doubt be pleased when “Copa Jams” unfolds.

Dipped in a pot of twilight menace and tape hiss-infused distortion, the skeletal drum programming on “Copa Jams” is straight out of the Detroit Electro Advocates Handbook, and there’s a sense of emotive contrast offered by the searing synth lines that jettison with laser like precision in conjunction with the merest hint of a delicate female vocal.

Manchester native Andi Hanley was for years one of the great things about NYC, charming, low-key, a great great DJ, he quietly was a graceful presence in the land of the overhyped and ego driven. For years Andi held down the music supervision for Rock Star games and was responsible for a lot of great music getting out to the gaming masses, Andi also was a vital member of Body and Soul, for years doing the warm up and setting the sound palette for Danny, FK, and Joe. Andi has since moved back to Manc, and is currently on the hunt for his own space to install his system and set up a proper party. (tell us when chief!) We are happy to have this great set from him, and we are also happy to have the great Disques Town drawing he did for us!

Prins Thomas, the man from Norway, has been DJ'ing producing and remixing at a steady pace since the late 90's. One of the more celebrated figures in contemporary dance music, T has come a long way from his start as a break dancer and musician in a range of bands. He runs several labels, most notably Full Pupp, has released several lps ( 2 solo, 2 with frequent collaborator Lindstrom ) has an extensive discography (understatement) and has been touring worldwide sharing extended dynamic sets that are an amalgamation of disco, house, cosmic, psychedelic and balearica. T is the biz, he keeps it deep, fresh and intimate. As you are reading this T is bringing his Orchestra - The Prins Thomas Orchestra - to Istambul for some live shows. Mix of the Week #599: the Beat Broker - Extended Summer

It feels quite surreal to say this, but Episode 03 of the Balearic London mix series is brought by none other than Italo house legend Don Carlos. Starting his DJ career in the late 70s, he is best known for his production debut 'Alone'. Widely known as the epitome of what dream house is, the track combines emotive piano chords, crisp percussion, and ethereal pads in what is beautifully floaty yet perfectly punchy perfection. Since then he's released more underground hits under his own name as well as his Montego Bay and Aquanauts monikers. He isn't just a legend of the 90s though, his releases in the recent years on Freerange Records, Utopia, Irma Records, and remixes on Wolf Music and more show that his music sounds as fresh now as ever.
