Toy Tonics welcome one of the US’ absolute legends in the game on their roster - Kai Alcé!  One of the original masters of jazzy house, Kai is a prime example of someone who witnessed the genesis of Detroit’s electronic musical landscape and strives to keep that spirit alive. Being of Haitian descent laid the foundation for his musical ear, starting with his childhood in Queens, New York. Some of his earliest musical influences included his mother’s penchant for soca music and the distinct Caribbean rhythms of his culture. An appreciation of Jazz would be further guided by his father’s expanding audiophile home system. During the 1970s the kindling of Hip Hop and the heyday of Disco perked the ear of a young Kai while they were living in NYC. The Big Apple would remain a constant throughout his musical journey as the years went on, but it was the move to Michigan that ultimately shaped his artistic vision.

On this 5 track EP Kai once again makes it all feel so easy! Deeply musical, yet also instantly effective on the dance floor, tracks like ‘New Life Livin’ and ‘Slide It In’ come with an ease that shows why he’s shaped the game for decades.

Reykjavík’s finest export Intr0beatz is back on the SB label with 5 expertly crafted tracks for the heads that like it deep & bouncy. He’s back slicing and dicing samples over his trademark swung out rhythms like never before.

‘Concentrate’ is a dusty & nostalgic Deep House jam, with its MPC’d piano chords, swinging hats and vintage hip hop style hooks. ‘Homage’ is a soothing slab of House with slow filtering chords, crisp hats, deep subby bass & ethereal pads. ‘Use What You Got’ is a lesson in doing just that, doing what he knows best, how he knows best. Raw, bumpin’ rhythms back up crystalline synths that sparkle over cavernous bass. ‘Don’t U Ever’ (premiered here!) takes a deeper dive with it’s low-passed lead humming along over phasing hats, chunky kicks and chopped vocals calling bacek to the days of Max Graef and Money $ex. Finishing up the EP is the sexiest cut ‘Line’ with chopped soul vocals echoing over deeply filtered chords and bass synth accents.

With the Fókus EP, Intr0beatz displays his deft touch and restraint as a producer to lock in a groove, craft a vibe and create an atmosphere that few can rival.

Slothboogie bring the good times here with a welcome return from Reykjavik's finest beat maker Intr0beatz. These grocers are all a perfect mix of party starting goodness with sophisticated produciton techniques and classy melodies that work both body and heady. 'Concentrate' is a dusty and nostalgic opener with well swung drums and 'Homage' then sinks into a smooth and soothing deep house groove. Things stay classically inclined but with a hint of new school freshness on the bumping 'Use What You Got' before deeper cut 'Don't U Ever' and closer 'Line' close out a stylish and very useful 12".
