This double-cycle work is the living scripture of Oblige — a continuous journey through mourning, memory, forgiveness, and union.
The album begins in the humid streets of New Orleans, where the dead are carried by brass and rhythm, and ends in a private universe where two bodies merge into one breath — heaven not as a place, but as perfect sync.

It’s both a funeral and a birth, a sermon and a confession.
Every track evolves sonically, emotionally, and spiritually — moving from earthly brass and drum to industrial gospel storms to chamber intimacy and, finally, into silence glowing with life.

Nothing repeats.
Each song transforms what came before — the tuba becomes thunder, the thunder becomes breath, and the breath becomes love.

DREI GEDICHTE VON JOHANNES KÜHN (1934-2023)

Ich habe hier einmal versucht, drei - man könnte sagen - Anti-Kriegs-Gedichte von Johannes Kühn in einen wohl etwas ungewohnten Klang zu bringen: 

1. "Job" / 2. "Torso" / 3. "Hochhaus"

Ich freue mich zudem fortgesetzt darüber, dass ich Johannes vor Jahren persönlich kennenlernen durfte. Und er sich später auch, als ich in meinem Hörbuch von 2014 mehrere Gedichte von ihm zitierte.
Hier einmal eine kleine tonexperimentelle Hommage an unseren großen saarländischen Dichter!

Job

Kannst du nicht Waffen einsammeln
aus dem letzten Krieg?

Das wär ein Job,
und dann erst,
wie müßt es dich beglücken,
auszudehnen deine Arbeit
auf Kasernen,
dort, was neu ist,
raffen
für den Schrott
und laut posaunen allen Männern,
du wüßtest, was in Schlachten
mit den Kämpfern werde!

Wie, ich komme dir blöd vor!
Sag, du hättest dich verirrt,
und wärest doch am richtigen Platz!

Er wurde darum von Helga Krook und Karin Brygger gebeten, die eines der Poeme im Juni 2022 in einer schwedischen Anthologie mit dem Titel "Dikter - En antologi för Ukraina" (Dichter - eine Anthologie für die Ukraine) veröffentlichten.)

Es fehlt am glatten weißen Marmor der Statue die Hand,
womit der Todespfeil 
gehandhabt wurde.
Wer schlug sie ab?

Wohl als man das Reich des ewigen Friedens ausrief, 
wohl unter heiligen Namen, 
zum Ende aller Kriege.
Mit einer Hand ist der Soldat zivil, 
und nackt glänzt er durch den Park.
Ich schau hin, zufrieden.

Lang, lang ists her.
Ob man sich täuschte 
um das ewige Friedensreich.
Sehr wohl!

Und besungen 
die Länder ohne Kriegstod 
haben die Vögel 
wie heute noch.
Hier höre sie im Laub!
Sie schwirren durch das Grün 
und harfen sonnlich laut.

Hochhaus

Das Hochhaus wirkt sieggewaltig
wie ein Handgriff in den Himmel.
Stockwerk an Stockwerk dringt empor.

Am obersten Fenster stehend
sähst du spielend
auf die Rücken
von Habichten und Lerchen,
wenn sie kämen,
auch Krähen,
an den Rand der Stadt,
um es zu sehen,
um es zu umfliegen.

Auf die anderen Häuser sähst du tief hinab,
die ringsum unter ihm stehn
wie niedere Knechte.

Kalkweiß dein Gesicht
vor der Tiefe,
Hinabsturz
kein Kinderspiel,
keine Mannestat,
Tod.

Keine Furcht,
daß es selber stürzt!
Seine Wurzeln aus Stein
haben die Baumeister tief in die Erde gerammt.
Und die Wände, daß in Wohnungen sie
Sicherheit für Kind, Mann und Frau,
haben sie sorglich
aus bestem Mörtel gefügt,
Stahlstrang und Stahlstrang
zieht sich durch steinharte Haut.

Teufelsmüh schmerzte den Männern in Gelenken,
den Männern allen
an diesem Haus
in Arbeit
durch Monat und Monat,
da das Bauwerk wuchs.

Unter ihm geh ich staunend hin,
verwünsch die Bombe,
die es treffen könnte,
und bin in Kriegsangst.

Aufdämmern läßt sie ein Flugzeug,
das noch höher fliegt
als das Haus steht,
in lauter Raserei voll Raketenlärm
am Mittagshimmel.

1. Job
Can’t you go collect weapons from the last war?
That would be a job. And just imagine how it might delight you to extend your work to the barracks, to gather what is new for the scrap heap— and to trumpet to all the men that you know what becomes of fighters in battle!
What—do I seem foolish to you? Say you’ve lost your way— and yet arrived at the right place.

2. Torso
The smooth white marble of the statue is missing a hand— the one that held the arrow of death. Who struck it off?
Perhaps when the realm of eternal peace was proclaimed, under sacred names, to end all wars. With one hand, the soldier is a civilian. And naked, he gleams through the park. I look on, content.
Long, long ago. Perhaps we were mistaken about the realm of peace. Indeed.
And the lands where no one dies in war have been sung about by birds— as they still are today. Listen to them in the leaves! They dart through the green and harp out sunlight, loud.

3. High-Rise
The high-rise looms victorious, like a hand reaching into the sky. Floor by floor, it climbs.
Standing at the topmost window you’d gaze playfully at the backs of hawks and larks— if they came, even crows— to the city’s edge, to see it, to circle it.
You’d look far down on the other houses that stand around it like lowly servants.
Your face chalk-white before the depth. A fall— no child’s game, no man’s deed, but death.
No fear that it might fall itself! Its roots of stone were rammed deep into the earth by the builders. And the walls— so that inside, children, men, and women might feel safe— were carefully joined with the finest mortar. Steel strand by steel strand runs through its stone-hard skin.
Devil’s toil gnawed the men’s joints— all the men who worked on this house month after month as the structure grew.
I walk beneath it, in awe, and curse the bomb that might strike it. I am afraid of war.
It dawns in a plane flying even higher than the house stands— in a frenzy of rocket-noise across the noonday sky.

Found in dusty reels marked “Goodnight Trail Sessions,” these are the long-lost recordings of Buck Ramble — the saloon singer turned silver-screen storyteller who lived long enough to see cowhands become celebrities.
