We are very excited to share the next Aviary Recordings release. AVI 018 is brought to you by Blanka Barbara, a live act, DJ, producer, and label owner (Rabbit Records). 

Coming from the classical composer’s background, Blanka puts musicality and enchanting storytelling through music first. Carefully steered sonic and emotional experiences are an integral part of her productions, live performances and DJ sets.

Knights of Orion and Purple Thunder are two highly emotive melodic and progressive tracks, which takes the listener on an ethereal experience.

Additional to her accomplishments as an artist, Blanka Barbara uses her platform to connect her audience to relevant and important world issues. For example, she live streamed an intricate progressive set as part of Women Strike (Strajk Kobiet) movement – ‘Strike Back’, a 24h stream in support of women rights in Poland. We are delighted when we see artists use their platforms for the greater good.

We couldn't be more excited to share this alluring and magnetic Ep with you, and we especially look forward to seeing more of her in the future.

The "Amsterdam Diamond" EP by London based producer Blanka Barbara raises the issue of blood diamonds and illustrates the heartbreak of people suffering from the consequences of serious human rights issues in Sierra Leone, Angola, Ivory Coast, Liberia. The main motif in the title track pierces us with its sharp unforgiving sound, waiting to strike at any moment in the break, and portrays the blood slowly dripping from those diamonds... "Sierra Leone" is a bittersweet melodic poem, a stifled outcry to people still suffering from brutal warfares, with a glimpse of hope that one day things will change for the better. "Butterfly of Peace" is a poem of mourning for the souls lost in the conflict, liberated from this world and soaring freely in heavens.

London-based DJ and producer, signed to UK trance label Discover Records from 2007-2012 and resident DJ at London's incredible Planet Angel parties for most of the 00s. Co-production credits as Sly One vs Jurrane with a discography of over 30 original tracks and remixes released on labels including Perfecto Records (Paul Oakenfold, world #1 DJ 1998, 1999), Armada Records (Armin van Buuren, world #1 DJ 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012) and many more.  

Alongside an extensive back catalogue of singles, remixes and EPs, Sly One vs Jurrane compiled and mixed two compilations for Discover Records: 'Global Trance UK' and 'Discover - The Next Chapter'. In 2012, Discover issued 'Trance Pioneers - Sly One vs Jurrane', a career retrospective anthology of all 19 Sly One vs Jurrane original tracks and remixes released on the Recoverworld series of labels between 2007 and 2012.  

I'm now retired from music production, but still love DJ'ing great music and posting mixes here on Soundcloud from time to time. You'll find a wide range of dance music genres including house, techno, trance, party funk, nu-disco, progressive house, psybreaks, hip-hop and ambient. Several older Sly One vs Jurrane promotional mixes and other sets will also be uploaded soon.
