Matthew Bumbach is a doctoral teaching assistant at the University of Miami Frost School of Music where he conducts Cantilena women chorus, teaches Experiential Music courses, and assists in teaching advanced choral conducting. He made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut on March 8, 2015 conducting University of Miami’s Frost Chorale.
Bumbach is an active composer and arranges whose works have been performed by such groups as University of Miami’s Cantilena Women’s Chorus, the Virginia Master Chorale, the Orlando Chorale, Fredonia State University’s Chamber Singers, and a number of middle schools, high schools and honor choirs throughout the United States. He is a frequent adjudicator and presenter throughout the state of Florida. As a singer, Bumbach has recorded and performed with Gloria Estefan, Time for Three, and Broadway star Rachel Potter.
Bumbach was previously the director of vocal music at College of Central Florida and artistic director of the Marion Civic Chorale. Under his direction, the Marion Civic Chorale performed such masterworks as Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and participated in the Carnegie Hall premier of Carol Barnett’s The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass. 
Bumbach earned a Masters of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of South Florida and a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Stetson University. He lives in Miami, Florida with his wife Melissa who is pursuing her PhD in music education at the University of Miami Frost School of Music.
