Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus: Just Move Records 

For the first of our new In Focus series we have decided to place the spotlight on one of our favourite labels and one that gets a lot of air play on Dub Explorations, a heavyweight of the South African scene: Just Move Records. 

Known for their low slung deep dub and house sounds. The label gives a lot of exposure to lesser known South African talent, whilst also having a pool of really solid more established artists that they regularly dip into which helps to really give this label a distinct and unique sounds. You know a Just Move Record when you hear one. 

On a personal note we would like to thank label head Miguel for his continued support for everything we do and his friendship over the years . Keep doing what you're doing bro.

Our latest podcast and Radio Show combined, to bring you JM019: A deep moody affair, including some of our latest content.

After graduating in 2001, Obie moved to the UK where he has performed at some of its top nightclubs and events including Ministry of Sound and Cargo. 

His debut release with Phobic records got playtime and support from some the the worlds top artists such as Moodymanc, Chris Lattner and Dubfire. 

A track from his debut EP 'Tribute To Amos' was included on the IBIZA UNDERGROUND 2011 Compilation & TOM POOKS's Compilation...

He is also the co owner at loose pants, an initiative bringing quality artists to SA amongst other countries. 

Latest gigs : half full : northampton, re hab, warehouse-london, 7% records (Ireland) ,

His next release is due 2013-14.

Distant Relatives JHB is an underground house and techno project of the deeper spectrum based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In the last few months the duo have managed to rack up several releases on established internationals labels such as Something Different Records, DeepWit Recordings as well as the classic Viva recordings.

Their style of deep atmospheric house and techno has garnered support from artists like Ray Okpara, Lukas Greenberg, Betoko, Jesus Pablo and many more. You can also find their music being played on radioshows and podcasts such as Proton Radio, Stafford FM, Ministry Of Sound and more.

Artist Feature Platform: A sole focus on talented local artists releasing music worldwide on international and local record labels. We know alot of music is released daily, but we believe these are cream of the crop, these will stand out and shine at some point;if they havent already.

Sand Isle is a Producer / Dj who was Born in Thembisa, bread and buttered in Alexandra where he still Lives ... 

He started dj'ng in small parties, events and Pubs in the Year 2008 and early in  2009 he started his producing his own material with his friend (Kypa) that he shared the love of House with.He decided  to take his Art seriously and went to study :Music Industry & Sound Technology at Central Johannesburg College in the Year 2010.

In Mid 2013 he worked with Qabecity Record (Freestate) for a Remix project and licensed a song with them for their Compilation, During the same phase of time his old friend whom  he also shares the Love and Passion for house music with opened a Record Label Named Plite Recordings which he got signed to as on of the opening Artists of the Label
 
2014 is looking good for Sand Isle as he is scheduling a Release of his 1st debut  EP in the 1st Quarter, Many Singles, Podcasts and More EP's.

JMR Artist Feature AF003 - Sand Isle

Artist Feature Platform:  We know alot of music is released daily, but we believe these are the cream of the crop, these will stand out and shine at some point;if they havent already.

DJ M (in private life Michael Brennan Haupt) is a Durban based DJ and record collector who has been spinning house tracks for over a decade, starting back in 2001 as a bedroom DJ.  

He landed his first residency at Zeta Bar in Florida Road at the ripe age of 17. In July 2006 he secured the position as resident opening DJ at the infamous Tilt Nightclub, a slot he occupied till the club’s close in April 2009. 
He has also played as a guest DJ at various venues and events across S.A

His style incorporates warm keys and pads, heavy basslines and  driving drum patterns, which sound as comfortable in a club as they do in lounges & bars. Always slightly nostalgic, his sets pay tribute to the legendary house music sound of the 90s.  

Michael focuses a great deal of his attention on delivering an accurate mixing experience to his audiences. In doing so, he has gained a reputation for his sound technical ability behind the decks, favoring the vinyl medium. 

Catch DJ M at Motifs next initiative on the Friday 20th June at Kitcheners (Braamfontein) alongside label owner Nuno Estevez.
