I'm excited to announce the first track from the 'Emergence Remixed' album which will be released in full at the end of March.

This remix comes from one of my absolute favourite electronic producers of the last few years, and someone who is constantly surprising me with each new release - Rival Consoles. 

I've been playing his work in my sets a lot recently too, he's got a great humanised approach to making electronic music, primarily with his hands-on analogue machines and live percussion, which give his tracks a whole load more life than most other producers. 

I have to mention Rival Consoles synth work too, which for me, is the best out there by a mile. He's got a knack for the most beautiful timbral quality and soft full sound. Complemented with his ability for hooks and chords and always developing arrangements, makes for some of the best electronic music out there in my opinion.

So all that said, you can see why I said I was excited to have him involved in the remix package! He's made a brewing club track for this package, all about those beautiful synths and micropitch deviations for me, the quality oozes out with him needing to overcomplicate the mix (like I do!). It's really hard to get each element to such quality to carry a track like that....so hats off from me, and I hope you enjoy it too.

The artwork is by Andy Lomas, from his Aggregation series, where he created a simulation of sticky particles which bounce around and are more likely to stick to larger structures, causing biological-esc growth-like structures to emerge. I have one of his huge prints from this series on my wall, the detail at high res is amazing. 

The series was chose for the Emergence album packages as it demonstrates the same principles of mathematical rules yielding unexpected and beautiful outcomes as is shown in the visual story to which the album tracks were scored. Lots of those videos are on this youtube channel, and the whole thing will be released in surround-sound bluray format later this year.

Distant Light (Rival Consoles Remix) [Mesh002]

Lost Tapes Vol.2 is a new various artists release from Alex Niggemann and his lovingly curated AEON AUDIO. The imprint’s second versatile 8- track collection showcases an assortment of regular members of the label family and introduces some exciting new friends. 

Both a reunion and step forward for the exceptional talent this unique label has been nourishing, Lost Tapes Vol.2 is eight tracks of flawlessly produced electronic music. Artists include TVA, Denis Horvat and Speaking Minds – already label regulars – alongside Alex himself and some ferociously talented debutantes. 

Opening track - the beautiful beatless ‘Andrea’ – comes courtesy of TVA, the Italian ex-pat duo of Danilo Pascale and Marco Mollo (now based in Sydney). Copenhagen’s Denis Horvat provides the gently pulsing ‘Patchouli’ - a fragrant blend of switching melodic and dissonant elements as it layers atmospheric excellence over a deep, ever-evolving, percussive groove. Speaking Minds return to AEON with ‘Space Teleportation’, in which heart-melting melodies rise over teasing acidic motifs on a seriously dirty, low-slung percussive groove. 

In perfect contrast, Alex’s own contribution is a masterclass in subtle genius, as he creates another landmark voyage into the realms of peak-time techno with his distinct emotive edge, building a swirling, deeply delicious energy throughout ‘Serenity’. 

The irresistible, exotic, hypnotic pulse of ‘Mannequin’, built around distinctive layers of intricate, melody rich percussion, is a wondrous debut AEON appearance. This time, the name to note is Radeckt aka Thomas Dieckmann, another super-talented creator from the hotbed current Copenhagen scene. 

Some remarkable Italian talent is also on display as Venetian DJ/Producer Bastinov makes a welcome return to AEON with ‘Chamal’, where his deft creative skills blend subtlety with energy, the track’s dancefloor-driven attitude is complimented by a deep, brooding arrangement.

Lost Tapes Vol.2 debutant, Raffaele Sorrentini aka Rafjus explore the most interesting facets of electronic music. His fine contribution, ‘In Wonderland’, with its speedy, stripped-back, linear percussive energy, draped in dissonant, melodious motifs, provides a starkly resonant moment here. 

Finally, ‘Birth Of An Island’ is an unforgettable entrance for Hannes Bieger, who is perhaps better known for his immense and highly regarded back catalogue as a mixing and mastering engineer in Berlin. Here, his foray into experimental dub territory is a peerless, controlled display of mood changing electronics - a perfect finale to this exceptional selection of AEON’s creative excellence.

Alex Niggemann - Serenity

‘Days Gone’ is the highly-anticipated return of core Afterlife act and fans favourite, Mind Against. A year after their ‘Solaris’ EP (AL002), the duo of Alex and Federico Fognini show once again why their moving, supremely-produced tracks are held in such esteem.

The title track takes you to another dimension, with a synth line spiralling into cosmic space and drums beating into oblivion. ‘Cloud Nine’, a classy, comparatively-understated cut for the early hours brings the energy back down. Stepping up to remix ‘Cloud Nine’ is Dystopian talent Alex.Do, who strips the sound back and distills the original’s graceful flourishes, completing a high-quality chapter in the Afterlife story.

Mind Against - Days Gone

Artbat combo is composed by Artur & Batish, two ukranian artists whom are doing great and unique electronic music. Maybe you know them by 'Uplift', released on Diynamic. But in this debut release on Suara they show their musical palette in three amazing original tracks. 'Trip' has potential to be the track of the night if you play it in the right moment, magic breakdown. 'Knup' reminds of old progressive house tracks with a 21st century feeling and 'Wall' is for powerful sets, a track leaded by a mental arpeggio ready to burn your brain. For remix duties we count on Simon Baker under his nickname B.K.R. with a fat bassline remix of 'Wall' and the mighty Lauer take us to the EBM golden days with an industrial post-punk influenced version of the same track. One of the most mature Suaras releases over the last months.

South London based music heads Chris and Chris, AKA FYI Chris are back with a release on Toy Tonics. FYI Chris were cemented into the forefront of the Peckham music scene following a release on Rhythm Section and their work at local record store Rye Wax. The  talented duo manages the record store giving them an opportunity to share their eclectic music taste with everyone that visits.It’s one of those shops where you pick up a record and they suggest another. Before you know it you have a bag full sounds you had never heard before, but are not sure how you could have possibly lived without.

Today we premiere the third track of the EP titled Flat Psych.The track is driven by the rhythmic pattern of the cymbals, ticking hi-hats and swinging percussion. A vocal harmony that has been chopped and sliced brings the feel good vibes.  In a mix this one is perfect when you want to refresh a dance floor add some percussion and bring some positive energy. The last set of remixes for Oliver Way’s debut album are of ‘Dust Storm’ with new interpretations by Plaid, Si Begg, Plaster and Exzakt & BFX.

EPM’s co-founder and one half of the Detroit Grand Pubahs, Oliver Way delivered his debut solo album ‘From the Shadows’ in April and it’s already been followed by a host of outstanding remixes from Robert Hood, Aphrohead (aka Felix da Housecat), Scan X, Ben Sims, Esteban Adame, DJ 3000, Ben Long and Barrow Boy.

The original version of ‘Dust Storm’ follows the album’s intro and features husband and wife team Jasmin and Liam Nolan on vox and sitar respectively.  Taking our cue from its downtempo breaks stylings we look to some pioneering beat masters for their expertise. 

Plaid’s version is a melodic ride with dubby overtones and their distinctive IDM qualities.  Si Begg splices the beats and Jasmin Nolan’s ethereal vocal to deliver a staccato reworking that pricks and stabs, delivering a futuristic breaks workout. Exzakt (Larry McCormick) and BFX (Brett Affects) have teamed up for a jagged and shadowy, Electro hued reimagining.  While Plaster brings his characteristic blend of deep beats, sharp sounds and dark ambience to the proceedings.

Dutch duo Abstract Division (aka Paul Boex and Dave Miller) present ‘Aftermath EP’, a four track package due *release date* on the eponymous imprint from Milan based collective Just This. Featured in the release are remixes from Peter Van Hoesen and VRIL. 
Title track is a subtle dancefloor killer with funky cyclic rhythms and peculiar harmonies, followed by ‘Isolated’, a subdued yet dizzying dose of syncopated drums and crystalline melodic inflections. 
For his interpretation of ‘Isolated’, VRIL mutates the stripped back hypnotism of the original into a maximal, angular workout, whilst Peter Van Hoesen focuses on the dizzying loops of the original, repurposing them into an immersive spiral of funk driven techno. 
‘Aftermath EP’ fuses elements of ambient and soulful techno for an understated but powerful package.
