The Velocity MIDI effect in Ableton Live 12 is already proving to be an essential tool — especially in combination with the Random, Chord, and Arpeggiator MIDI effects. Together, they unlock so many unexpected and inspiring possibilities that it would be a shame not to use them. I’ve been experimenting with them daily over the past week, and honestly, the results have far exceeded my expectations.

This week’s track, however, was a different story. It took a lot of effort to get it over the finish line. Thankfully, I had set, as ever, a firm deadline and a personal point of no return — otherwise, I would’ve kept tweaking the details forever. That’s exactly why I’ve committed to finishing one track per week: it takes the pressure off. Not every track has to be perfect, because there’s always a new opportunity waiting in the week ahead.
