'The Story of Cuckoo' - Part 1

Cuckoo was an intimate Adelaide venue dedicated to underground electronic music from its inception in 2008 until its sudden closing in late 2014. During these years it was a vital artery to the beating heart of the local music scene.

This episode is part 1 of 2, dedicated to the music that defined the club, with Cuckoo co-owner Phildo sharing a compacted 2.5 hours that captures the essence of a night at Cuckoo from first drinks until the closing track.

Part 2 is a deep dive conversation with Phildo about Cuckoo and its story.
These two episodes aim to document an important chapter in the fabric of Adelaide's dance music story, and share the impact of Cuckoo's legacy. Enjoy

Since its inception two years back, BSTRD Boots has quickly risen to become one of the most in-demand and craftiest of the bootie / mash-up labels floating around. Quickly selling out limited edition vinyl runs, and never available digitally, the series has tapped into a plethora of high profile producers and DJs to version up and pay tribute to classic artists and tunes of bygone times, often utilizing original productions and live musicians on the cuts.
