We are pleased to present the second in a series of piano-based releases in celebration of this year’s Piano Day. 

Our label joins forces with Leipzig-based pianist and composer Lorenz Weber to release two long-form compositions for solo piano under the name of ray of hope – a project that gives the listener space and time to lie down for a while, close their eyes, and perceive the individual tones and the silence in-between each note. summer and rain, winter and sun. At first glance, they may seem opposite. However, they are not mutually exclusive, but rather complementary forces. The rain in summer and the sun in winter let us know that everything will be alright.

ray of hope will be available digitally on the 1st of April, featuring artwork by Jordan Amy Lee.

Büreval is the second single from my upcoming album The Yard Sale.
Ths 9'40" minutes long track represents the ending point of a saturation process. It is a statement to promote slow-listening sessions in this careless fast-fruition world.

It brings us so much joy to release new music into the world, especially when it's as fun and downright groovy as BLOMMA's first record. The collaborative project pairs @philipdanielpiano and @jacob-pavek, two musicians and composers who live 600 kms apart in the American midwest and met true 21st century style: on Instagram. Their friendship blossomed quickly, leaving their heavy-hearted melancholic solo projects behind for more luminous and upbeat territories. 

In this piece, Daniel's tender melody on felted piano is traded and harmonized with Pavek's vintage synths, with everything sitting against a backdrop of slow moving strings and ambient electronics. According to @blommamusic, the end result "sounds like the neon lights shining on a chamber orchestra." The record is out now on all digital platforms, and we'd love for you to give it a spin !

Program note:

"Lumina" explores the spectrum of light and dark and the murkiness in between. Using swift contrasts between bright, sharp timbres and cloudy textures and dense harmonies, the piece captures sudden bursts of radiance amongst the eeriness of shadows.

Striving for beauty in reticence.
Contrasting with sounds in ostinati keys, heavy furniture music, and dead contemporary.  With each note, I walk a tightrope.
