Solid Steel (13th June) In Hour 1 this week we welcome Akkord ahead of the release of their new EP on the excellent Houndstooth label. The tracks Greyscale and Continuum from the EP feature in their mix, alongside music from Cloud Boat, Andy Stott, Shackleton and Kerridge. The deep and dark selection continues with unreleased music from Talk in Silence, plus tracks from Autechre and the Aphex Twin remix for Curve from 1993. HTH020 is released on 16th June on Houndstooth and is pressed on 180g grey wax, with debossed cover and postcard insert.

Solid Steel Radio Show 13/6/2014 Part 1 + 2 - Akkord

I'm pleased to announce THE LIQUID AMBER EP. This single/EP serves as the opening salvo in what I hope is a long string of music, by myself and others, on my new imprint: LIQUID AMBER. There's two new songs, "Ghost Town" and "Mob," and a nifty remix of "Six Days" by Machinedrum.

"Ghost Town" is an ambitious ride through many of the micro-genres within the Future Bass umbrella that have inspired me recently, while "Mob" is an intentionally stripped-down, Cali-certified head-nodder. Both songs were written, programmed, and mixed by myself, and they represent the forward steps I feel I've taken as an engineer. The "Six Days" remix was something I asked Machinedrum to knock out as a tour weapon, and he crushed it (naturally), so I felt it deserved a proper release.

I'm excited about this music and the new imprint, and I really appreciate everyone's time and consideration.

Six Days (Machinedrum Remix)

One of the most exciting new additions to the prestigious Samurai Music roster, Tokyo's Ena has crafted a sound entirely his own, opening doors into dark, experimental planes of music. A major player on the Japanese underground scene for over a decade, his forward-thinking productions, for the likes of 7even Recordings, Samurai Horo and CX:Digital, permeate the edges of drum & bass, becoming something more, something raw.

His debut album, Binaural, is due out through Samurai's Horo imprint - a breeding ground of innovative producers such as ASC, FIS and Sam KDC - on October 27th. Promising to move further into "uncharted sonic and rhythmic territory," the album offers harsh textures and grim, organic beats, often put together with found sounds. In a interesting and unique move, the tracklist for the vinyl 2x12" LP is totally different from its CD and digital counterparts, with 12 totally separate and exclusive tracks. The CD tracklist has already been revealed, however we've secured a first look at the LP release.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Binaural, Ena is hosting an album launch party this Saturday 27th September at Plan B, London. Alongside the man from Japan, the night will feature Sam KDC, Ancestral Voices and Adam Elemental, plus in the other room, Samurai wunderkind Clarity will host his own LP launch party with the likes of dBridge, Paradox, Loxy, Ruffhouse, Overlook, Indigo and label boss Presha. Tickets are available now. Or if you're over on the continent, you can catch Ena at OHM, Berlin tomorrow night and Groningen's Paradigm on October 4th.

That's not all though, Ena has kindly provided us with this brilliant, exclusive mix. Full to the brim with dusty, extraterrestrial atmospheres and obscure percussion, let Ena induct you into the way of the Samurai!
