Seagulls in the Wind

Róisín Dubh ("Mi Mørke Rose" as it is called in Norwegian) is one of the most enduring traditional songs of Ireland, with roots going back to the 16th century. Originally sung in Irish Gaelic, the rose is both a beloved woman and a symbol for Ireland itself – a mixture of love song and political lament.

This version is a free translation into Norwegian Nynorsk, shaped to carry the same spirit while finding its own rhythm and imagery. The text keeps the traditional themes of longing, struggle, and devotion, but the phrasing is adapted into a modern song form with verses and a chorus.

The music you hear is not a reproduction of any specific arrangement, but a new interpretation that bridges the old folk tradition with a contemporary voice.

When Justin Nozuka is asked to describe his music, he uses words like honesty, passion, vulnerability, and true love. These themes have been consistent throughout his decade-plus career as a world-renowned singer-songwriter, but they have never felt quite so poignant or important as they do within the context of our world today.
