James C. Rouse II, also known by the stage name Kito Star, is an American singer-songwriter and musician born into a musical family in Philadelphia on February 25,1995. His sound is a fusion of eclectic, soulful sounds with raw hip hop and a touch of jazz. A gifted child, Kito had an early appreciation for music and art and while he always sang and played the drums, it wasn't until the age of 16, while attending Boys' Latin of Philadelphia Charter School, that his interest would soon turn into a passion. While performing and forming various groups within the school he soon realized he wanted to be a professional musician. In that same year he went on to create his first mixtape, "Anticipation," and to form a band out of his childhood friends. Since then Kito has been traveling all over the tri-state area performing at venues such as Hard Rock Cafe Philadelphia, World Cafe Live Philly, The Dell East, The Kimmel Center, and Calabash. His influences include D’angelo, Bilal, A Tribe Called Quest, Erykah Badu, Marvin Gaye, and Minnie Ripperton, to name a few. Kito has aspirations of making timeless music that can stand alongside musical icons like Michael Jackson and Prince.
