When we started the Ultrasoft Notes project, we imagined it as a fascinating opportunity to discover our friends’ musical tastes outside of function-based dance music contexts. Since the inaugural mixtape, we’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much these contributions allow us to connect with our guests on a deeper level — not through verbal narratives, but through intricate meditations expressed in sound.

Anton is someone we have held in high regard throughout the years of knowing him. He is a true genius — combining impeccable taste with an inspiring obsession for the art of digging. This edition of Notes reflects exactly what we’ve come to expect from him, and somehow still offers more. It is intelligent, carefully considered, and expansive in its content. 

In these times of confusion, distress, and conflict, we invite you to listen. We hope that this mix brings you feelings of love and care. #stopgenocide

𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝓐𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓷:
I. Fundamental
Colocalization pertains to the method of checking whether two or more kinds of cells are co-located in a specific frame. Different colors are assigned to different cells and a software identifies which cells are co-located in the frame; however, this is not to say that these two types are interacting with one another as these could just be floating on top of each other at a microscopic scale. This fascinated me as it can be analogous to the abstractness of music. We don’t see music physically, yet as we listen, we feel as if the music is there. 

II. Technical
What I did was I ‘colocalize’d all my past mix recordings to look for similarities. The result is this symbiosis of all the music I want to share, where it feels tangible to my surroundings. I sought after tracks that can colocalize through multiple seasons such as the sound of the warm summer and the cool of the monsoon rain.

idk i feel like lofi hiphop became a lazy type of way to create beats; it's like "quick beats" that u can make in under a minute or two. it's been increasingly on demand, yet it lacks depth; therefore, it turns bland and not creative

i jus wanna let the rant out because i've been extremely guilty of producing these lazy type beats [for real, you can make one in 1 drum rack in ableton] as it lacks creative sampling godfathers Dilla and Nujabes have been making

however, if this is the only way that can lead me to push for finding my own sound, i'd gladly use these as exercises
